It's been nearly a year since I stayed at Hostal Solor (Aug. 2010), but I just got onto tripadvisor and had such a great experience that I wanted to write a review. My finance at the time and I stayed for 5 nights. While the accommodations are pretty simple (remember that you're in the middle of the desert), Silvia went out of her way to make us feel at home, and that we really appreciated. We arrived early in the day but she had a room ready for us. She even went to bat for us when one of our tours was messed up (we missed it because they told us the wrong time), and convinced the company to make it up to us. If you speak Spanish, I would definitely recommend getting to know Silvia, as she is from the area and can tell you about the town's history.
The rooms are simply furnished and have no heat, but we stayed in the winter-time and were definitely warm enough at night. Though there isn't much water pressure (again, its a desert) we did have hot water. Silvia keeps things very clean, too. It is a good 15 minute walk into town, but that meant the hostel is nice and quiet at night. I would just recommend bringing a flashlight because there aren't many streetlights.More
Very Good 4/5
