The location is superb, near the village of San Pedro close enough for a walk but isolated enough for seeing the stars and the sky without any light around. The service is perfect, fabulous buffet breakfast. The restaurant offer is very good. One night they had the asado outside with all kinds of meat and fish, excellent. Every room has privacy and private patio. We stayed in the Catarpe type of room. The desk organizes tours to the geysers, salar de atacama, valle de la luna, valle de la muerte. On the premises they have all kinds of swimming pools with different temperatures. Also a corral with some beautiful and very well kept llamas. Unforgettable trip. Unforgettable Chile.

Room Tip: Catarpe type rooms have more privacy.

The hotel is located outside of town, and it's lovely, surrounded by mountains, and feeling as if it fits right into its location. The food was quite good. We sometimes had a difficult time conversing if our server didn't have much English, but that was our problem, not theirs. There was usually someone around who could help with translation, and everyone seemed good natured about it. The room was lovely, very calming, although we would have appreciated a little more lighting. The bathroom was also very nice, with nice lighting on the floor under the counter and a great shower. We appreciated the patio outside the room with a wonderful view out the back. They seemed to be very environmentally conscious, but tended to put new toiletries into the room each day, whether needed or not.

We hope they, and San Pedro, are coping well after the flood that hit them a week after we left.

Set amongst the red hills and clear blue sky's, this beautiful hotel sympathetically compliments its surroundings and provides a level of tranquility and hospitality that is to be admired in such a remote area of the country. All of the staff try their very best to create a calm comforting atmosphere, but some Spanish is useful, as when the Manager is not around, the number of 2nd language speakers is minimal. The landscape within the hotel has been very skilfully designed to create beautiful areas to sit and relax, or just absorb the majesty of the wilderness at your doorstep. Add to this good food and wine and for me, you have little left to ask of them. Even had Llama pen to keep you in touch with the local wildlife!

Room Tip: All rooms offer a great view, but the ones away from reception afford the greater privacy.

We just spent two nights at the Hotel Alto Atacama, but it was memorable. The Alto Atacama and its staff deliver very much to those who visit it. The service is excellent and the disposability of the staff to attend to the needs of the visitor are worth praising. It is highly notable the good management this hotel has.
Apart from its comfortable facilities, in which it is possible to appreciate the dedication to all the details, one feels the intention of making ones stay as pleasant as possible. Always thinking a step ahead you already get what you are looking for before you ask for it.
We always have been astonished by the big idea of being able to get connected with the nature and the Alto Atacama with the simple fact of being constructed camouflageing with its surroundings, it gives him this bonus of the desert experience one is looking for in a place as magic as San pedro de Atacama.

We spent 5 days at this lovely hotel. Respectful of the environment, the hotel is architecturally superb and well decorated using local materials. The staff is delightful and attentive, the management is helpful and do everything to make the stay enjoyable. The rooms are beautifully designed with local textile and colours, the beds are very comfortable and the bathroom is functional and pleasant. Last but not least, the food is excellent, the wine delicious and there is also a very attractive spa and pool area. The tours are exciting and well organised including a great picnic lunch for the longer ones. Don't miss the flamingo lake - it is more than stunning.

We spent 4 all-inclusive days at this wonderful spot outside of San Pedro de Atacama in early September. We lucked out because there were only about 10 other guests at the hotel during our stay. The day we checked out, they were sold out for the Chilean holiday week. Phew! It was quiet, tranquil and very relaxing. The hosts were warm and welcoming and the service was attentive and respectful. They had time to dote over us. Most of the waitstaff in the restaurant seemed "green", but they tried hard and did a good job pleasing us. The food was well prepared and good overall. I would have enjoyed the dining more if there were a few more selections on the dinner menu. At lunch, we asked for something that was not on the menu a couple of times and they were very accomadating.
The daily excursions were excellent. They guides were knowledgeable, friendly and fun to spend the day with. The touring options were good too. Although small, their selection of locally made crafts were very nice. Good pisco sours and inviting lounge spaces were good to come back to after the day's activities. Rooms were a good size and the outside patio was a great place to relax and take in the view. I hope they fix the road a bit that leads to the property. Way too bumpy and uneven! But, I would definitely stay here again.
