This place is great if you want to stay in the center of town and not along the beach. It is located just minutes by foot to the market and center of town. We were just there during "off-season" and SERIOUSLY, the city dies out by 8-9pm - there is very little to do after that. However, the owner John was great and so helpful as he made the stay totally worth it. He assisted us with tours, getting a rental car, and even good food spots for dinner. The room is exactly what I expected for the price and the court yard in the hotel is very Chilean. You can pay more for a fancy upscale hotel but you won't get that special guest service elsewhere.

It really is all about the people when it comes to having an enjoyable stay at a hotel and John the owner of Hotel Del Cid gets 6 out of 5 stars. We found many of the hotels we stayed in during our travels through Chile to be very chilly when it came to service, Hotel Del Cid was just the opposite. It felt like we were visiting family instead of staying in a hotel. John helped us in so many ways, including breaking out his toolkit to repair my new transformer that malfunctioned, a very important piece of equipment because I need it to run my CPAP machine so I can breath at night. John stored our escess luggage for 4 days while we visited another resort in Pisco Elqui and even called ahead to make our reservations for us as we have limited Spanish - all gratisand with a smile. The rooms aren't huge or very special but Hotel Del Cid doesn't bill itself as a 4 star hotel, everything is clean and well managed - which is more than I can say for several hotels we visited in Chile.

Owner John is a Scot so speaks British English. He offered us cold beverages after our 4.5 hour drive from Vina. His dinner reccommendation was a 2 block walk and was good BBQ beef + chicken. John also provided tourist advice on visiting the CAPEL pisco distillery in Vincuna and Andacollo pilgrimage sight. Secure parking, good location, free wifi and friendly English sold us.

We took a short trip up from Viña to go see dolphins at Isla Damas. The hotel was close to everything we needed, and though it wasn't top notch it was really worth the price. We enjoyed our stay!
