“The best Neruda house by far”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 26, 2014

The scale and scope of the the Neruda houses and their contents never cease to amaze. The Isla Negra house was his favourite and probably because of its distance from Santiago during the Pinochet era remained intact. A man of great appetite and zest for life, Neruda's vision is most complete and fully expressed here. A wonderful place to visit.

“Worth the bus ride from Valparaiso”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2014

A 2 hour bus ride from Valparaiso was worth it. The ride itself was interesting and the changing scenery worth seeing. Isla Negra is a small place, so we went only for the Museum. BOOK AHEAD as this is a self guided tour with an english audio guide so only a certain number can go through at a time. We brought a picnic lunch and ate on the beach below the house - fantastic surf, rock formations. The views form the house and Neruda's gravesite are spectacular. The museum itself has some amazing things. Decent gift shop where you can buy momentos and english translations of his books of poetry.

“A View Into Both The Soul Of A Poet, And The Pacific Ocean!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 16, 2014

Of Pablo Neruda's three homes, Isla Negra most captures his child hood, his whimsy, his love of nature and life itself. Santiago is the easiest to get to, Valparaiso is easy to get to - both have lots of things to do being immersed in cities. Isla Negra, on the other hand, is the most meditative, with the beach and waves literally at your (and Neruda's) doorstep.

We visited Isla Negra, courtesy of MyWayChile.CL, who picked us up in Renaca, took us to Zapallar (a beach community filled with hills and high end homes - think Carmel) after visiting
Isla Cachagua, a protected Humboldt penguin sanctuary situated on an island off the coast of Chile. So we were ready for Neruda's immersion with nature beach front home!

“In the mind of a poet”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 10, 2014

The visit was well arranged by the museum : explication in audio (differnet languages) and well written. Not too much people in same time are visiting. Pay attention in some periods you need to phone to book the visit!

Place was fantastic and incredible... each element has its place and signification...

I think the best house of Pablo Neruda!

“Beautiful view by the sea”

I liked this house over the other 2. The audio is good but the view from the grave is incredible enough.
