We had the most amazing two night stay. Ruth and Vincente were so marvellous, attentive, gracious and so very passionate about the service they provide in their beautiful guesthouse, we felt at home. And boy, can they put on a good spread! Ruth is an amazing chef and Vincente makes a bloody good Pisco Sour, and we tried a few in our five weeks of travelling.
Ruth and Vincente, our stay was very memorable and if time permits we would go back again. Thank you for being such amazing people and we wish you both the very best. SALUD!

What a beautiful place! We spent just 1 night there and did a cooking class. The food was delicious, the owners were gracious, and the setting was lovely. I wish we had had more time there. It's off the beaten track, and well worth finding.

After getting a little lost on our way there (don't think anything big when looking for the churches to turn at in the directions), we were warmly welcomed and showed to our room. I believe it was called the Africa room, and it was huge! A beautiful master canopy bed and then another smaller bed, perfect for a family. We dropped our stuff and started our cooking class right away, the theme of which was seafood appetizers. We made 4 dishes and a dessert, all of which were delcious. I highly recommend taking a cooking class with Ruth, as she makes it both fun and instructive. I got a mini side-lesson from Vicente on the art of the pisco sour, which served as our aperitif for our delicious dinner that we helped to make! The meal continued with wine, in a beautiful room with a wood-burning fire. Since we were the only guests for our one night stay we were lucky enough to have dinner with Ruth and Vicente, who are extremely charming and interesting. We hung out by the fire after to finish our wine and then went back to our toasty room to sleep. The next morning we were welcomed by a huge, delicious, and of course home-made breakfast. Muffins, eggs, breads, fruit, jams, and more were all included in the price of a night's stay. In summary, our visit was short but very sweet. Would love to go back again.

That's how my husband and I felt during our two day stay. We were fortunate to be the only guests prior to a very busy weekend. On arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Ruth and she showed us to our room and gave us a tour of part of her property. We stayed in the Namaste room which was beautiful and comfortable. The rooms are separate from the main house with the feel of having your own personal cabin.

We later met Vicente who was also very kind and friendly. We wandered around their property and were amazed by the plants, flowers, vegetables, fruits and nuts growing all around. These all contributed to Ruth's delicious meals. Over breakfast and dinner, we were able to chat with Ruth and Vicente about the b&b, their lives and their taste in music.

We very much enjoyed our stay here and hope to visit again one day.

Follow the directions taking nothing for granted! Ruth had given directions we were to turn between the two churches. One is a blue building and the other yellow, both with some piece offering a resemblance of a cross. The "road" is basically one lane dirt and had it not been for the description of the "bridge" we were to cross we would have probably turned around! We continued up the "road" and upon reaching the entrance turned into an oasis!! We were greeted by the friendliest of dogs and shortly thereafter by Ruth. It was not long before we were summoned for drinks in the yard and dinner. The setting is a garden surrounded in the distance by mountains, peaceful, relaxing and QUIET!!. Dinner was outstanding in presentation, portion and taste. Breakfasts equally well done. Ruth and Vincente are excellent hosts and go out of their way to insure all is well! We stayed mid March, the days were warm, the evenings cool and the nightime sky ablaze with stars. The absence of light really does bring out the sky! Mapuyampay is the place to relax, unwind, walk the grounds and enjoy the beauty of creation! To top it all off there is nothing like a rooster at 3:45 in the morning. Chicken soup anyone?

Trip advisor works......if you disregard the whingers and whiners who pick up on trivia, (who are in fact absent in reviews of Mapuyampuy), you will find excellent places to stay and to eat!
Mapuyampuy is no exception.....really good, not a place you would EVER bump into by accident, but easy enough to find if you follow the directions given.....
Ruth built this adobe house years ago.....I think she said 14, and it is very attractive and comfortable, as are the newer annex rooms where we stayed. All has style and fits well with the area.
Ruth herself is a very pleasant, knowledgeable and easy to approach person, who explains her craft in easy terms which any layman can follow.......and apart from cooking she has a wide knowledge and is interesting to talk to. Vincent's is a decent sort of bloke....a perfect foil for Ruth...and is always ready to chat or help.
The cooking class was interesting and it was really good to be present at, and take a small part in, the the preparation and cooking of lunch, which we later ate. Ruth is an artist as far as food is concerned and her presentation of the simplest dish is wonderful and demonstrates how it really should be done.
We walked in the adjacent vineyard and orchard.....Ruth directed us.... Normally in Chile everywhere is barbwired off, so it was excellent to be able to 'roam'.
No doubt we will all be back...even if just to stay on our way north...

Room Tip: Just go there...it's all good.

We had a wonderful weekend at Mapuyampay. Ruth & Vincente are great hosts. We enjoyed a fun Saturday morning cooking class with Ruth and two other couples. It was a real treat to prepare several different dishes for lunch, and then get to enjoy them with your classmates over great Chilean wines. The setting is very picturesque and unique. The Hostal is situated in the Chilean countryside surrounded by vineyards and orchards. The grounds are beautiful with a wonderful pool, and the setting is accentuated with gardens, chickens, ducks, and their very friendly dogs. The cabins are very nice, and situated around the property so there is a sense of privacy with each one. It you are looking for a real taste of Chile, put this on your itinerary.
