“Convenient and Great Place to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2013

A long due review for this great hotel. Have visited this hotel back in March 2013 after reading some good reviews from tripadvisor. The hotel staffs are very friendly and helpful in arranging for me the tuk tuk driver, and all the tickets that I need for my trip there. There was a problem with the electricity outlet in my room, and one of the staff (sorry that I forgot your name) tried to help me fixing it although it was late, and has offered to charge my battery at the counter when the outlet problem cannot be solved. The hotel provides free pick-up and drop-off service, and I was given a scarf as a present after my stay there. The tuk tuk driver which they have arranged for me is great too. Too bad that I have forgotten the driver's name (do let me know if you still remember me and the driver). The hotel comes with a roof-top restaurant, but too bad they only offer limited item from the menu. No luck in trying the meal from the hotel. Anyhow, there is always some great restaurants around.
Overall, this is a great hotel with reasonable price. Will definitely stay here again if I am going to Battambang in future.

I can not say enough great things about this Hotel. We came off-season and were given a great price on an upper floor fan room.

First off the location is central. The staff were Amazing! Particularly a couple of the fellas at reception whose names I've forgotten! (Sorry guys!) They were always a good laugh and helped us with directions, scooters, food recommendations, etc. The hotel common areas were amazingly clean throughout and there is a superb little rooftop restaurant. It was a bit out of our budget price range, but have a coffee or a juice up there in the morning and watch the city come to life. It was one of my highlights of Cambodia!

The room itself was immaculate. Clean, spacious, nice little balcony, great bathroom, comfortable bed.

Seriously folks, if you want to experience Cambodia and it's people, skip the boozy tourist spots in the South and spend a few nights in Battambang at the Royal.

Room Tip: We are backpackers and went as basic as possible. However if a balcony room is within your price ran...

I like to traveling with no plan, and I accidentally found this hotel by the lovely tuk tuk driver at the bus station who are working for this hotel, his name is Mr. RIch, he was so bruilliant and knowledgeble, I went to visit the killing cave, Banon Temple, and unique and fun bamboo train, it was absolutely one of my best hotel in Southeast Asia. Hotel itseft was so perfectly, Clean, Spacious room with all amenities you need, especially , TUK TUK driver Mr. RIch has pushed this the up to 6****** Rating. Highly recommend for the tourists who are looking for 4 star hotel with the 2 star rate.

Room Tip: Try the rooftop restaurant breakfast, I had a best caffee making!!!

Backpacker heaven, the best accomodation you could ever dream of.

1. It all starts with the service. You get picked up by the bus and transferred to the hotel free of charge by a local guy Tony who hopes that you'll hire him to give you a ride around countryside. Tony, you are the best. 20 bux a day, and your personal giude and tuk-tuk are at your disposal.

2. Next, you are greeted by a fluently-english-speaking well-meaning receptionist, who is ready to bargain! And you get a 12-dollar room just for 8, for the promise that you won't use air-conditioner. You can buy drinks at reception (water, cola, beer, etc.)

3. The room is huge. Beds are king-sized, I mean single-person beds. They are made of hardwood, and will last forever. They look and feel royal.

4. You have your personal shower, well-kept.

5. The hotel is always full of fellow-backpackers. It's nice to have someone to chat.

6. It's right in the heart of the city.

Room Tip: All the rooms are spacious, all beds are excellent. Before you get the key, you can walk around and...

Lovely clean large room. Grea tv channels and awesome food across the road. Hotel arranged a lovely Tuk Tuk man for us to see the train and killing caves. He stopped and taught us so much along the way...ended up trying fresh mangoes, crickets and rat! A wonderfully memorable day!

After a first visit six years ago we recently returned to this hotel.
We still found it great value for what they charge you, it's still that clean and welcoming place.
Although, I've two remarks. First, you can't come in the lobby without being attacked by annoying tuk tuk drivers and second, we had a room on the top floor and those can be incredible hot!

We stayed at the Royal for a few nights and found it just as described. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable. The bathroom is one of those with the shower unscreened so the whole thing is awash after a shower but you can live with it. The hotel is near the market and a few blocks from the river but is well serviced with Tuk Tuk's and provides good info and will book bus tickets etc for you. There are a couple of cafes directly opposite which are not bad.

Room Tip: We had a front room which owing to a wedding 3 blocks away was incredibly noisy with LOUD music all...
