“Great place to stay, comfy, clean and friendly”
Reviewed January 6, 2014

The location is perfect, on a small and quiet street right in the center of Battambang, only a couple of minutes both from the market and the riverfront. Rooms and bathrooms are comfortable and very clean. The owners, Pheara and Dirk are very friendly and helpful. They will make you feel like part of the family and help with any question regarding your travels, day trips, things to do in Battambang, restaurant recommendations, and, of course questions about Khmer culture and habits.
The construction works mentioned in some of the reviews was finished when I stayed there, so no noise apart from the usual buzz of a city in Asia.

Ganesha Family Guesthouse is a wonderful guesthouse with very friendly staff. It's run by Pheara and Dirk, a Cambodian-German couple. Pheara is superb: ask her anything about your travel plans - a cycling tour, renting a motorbike, volunteering - she always helps out with a smile. Drink a beer with Dirk at the bar and enjoy their food in the restaurant, Khmer and Western style with a German touch.

Excellent guethouse! The dorm is amazing with huge beds that comes with their own mosquito net, fan and locked drawer. The bathrooms are the cleanest ones I've seen so far in Cambodia (although cold shower but that's normal) and the guesthouse is located right in the middle of the town.

The major reason for staying here however is the wonderful and extremely helpful owner which in this small town is worth gold. She helped me and my friend with everything, from booking tickets to giving directions and advice of what to see and do. I had an absolute blast in Battambang, and a lot of it all thanks to the owners!

The dorm is very clean and the owner's make an effort to keep them that way. They make regular checks of the mattresses which suggests that they really care about the quality of their guest's stay. (While I was there they were making a detailed search for bed bugs and they even checked the wooden frames of the beds and sprayed both frame and mattress against creepy crawlies. Both were aired to extinguish any remaining smells). The beds were comfy and a locker/drawer is provided for valuables. Each bed had an its own fan and mosquito net.
The bathrooms were clean and the only reason I give 4 instead of 5 stars is that the water pressure is bit low and so it takes a while to wash the soap off.
Food seemed good, I only had the baguettes but other guests said the food was fine.
Tickets e.g. for the circus, and travel information was given and booking was done helpfully.
The staff and owner's are very friendly and helpful. A nice chilled-out family atmosphere (don't call the dog a mop, he gets offended).
As mentioned in other reviews, there was a building site next door but my review reflects on the guesthouse itself since they cannot control what their neighbour get up to. If noise does bother you, you can wear earplugs but it really isn't as bad as everyone says it is. A bit of knocking and banging but it shouldn't take precedence over a comfy bed.
I would actually give a 4.5 - 4.75 rating if not for the water pressure but overall the stay there is worth it. Comfy, clean and welcoming. I would definitely stay there again.

The dorms are quite big and clean. Every bed has its own mosquito net which was in a good state. They don't have A/C, but the windows were open all the time, so it was not too hot in the night - I didn't get any mosquito bites by the way!
The restaurant is great and the family very friendly. Though you should keep in mind what you had as there have been some small misunderstandings in the time we stayed there.

We stayed for two nights and loved it. Nice clean rooms with mozzie nets. The owners couldn't have been more helpful, from booking bus and circus tickets to negotiating good deals for days out by tuktuk. A lovely city often overlooked on the tourist trail I would recommend a stop.

Small, low-key hostel with clean modest rooms and nice hippy feel. The owners are a friendly German and Khmer couple (and their kids) who work the cafe and bar downstairs for guests. Moto security guard during day and decent breakfasts. Excellent western-style coffee at an NGO-run cafe just up the street, near mural of Ros Sereysothea.
