We arrived by tuk tuk and paid $10 us for the ride for my mum and I. The bamboo train is a flat bed made out of bamboo run my a small motor.
It is a one way track and when there is a returning train the train stops and passengers have to get off and the drivers take the train off the track to allow another train to pass and then the train drivers put the train back on the track and continue on the journey.
The scenery of the country side is beautiful. At the end of the track there are locals selling their items and you do feel pressured to buy.
The bamboo train does get spees and I loved it!

The bamboo train isn't quite what I expected. If you are anticipating full carriages made out of bamboo then think again. Each 'train' amounts to a wooden crate powered by a small engine. It is nevertheless a bit of fun, something quirky, and as other reviewers have commented where else can you do this in the world?

Having to get off and lift the train off the track due to another one coming in the opposite direction is interesting.

It was like a childhood dream came true for me to ride the bamboo train. Awesome scenery, amazing people. Loved it!

Fun experience riding the train tracks on a bamboo flat bed powered by a lawn mower engine! Very picturesque ride, including cows on the tracks, roosters, chickens, locals fishing. When two bamboo train "cars' come head to head, one has to literally pick it up and move it off the tracks to pass by! Very fun. Only negative is they take you to a turn around station where several local families hawk their wares. I realize it is how they make a living, but it felt pressured and very uncomfortable. Be prepared to drop a few bucks.

Tourist Police are around at the starting point to make sure prices are honest.

Now that was different! A great opportunity to see the countryside via this ingenious use of a defunct railway track. Just loved the way the "cars" were dismantled to allow another to pass, and the gaudy cushions provided for soft Western bums!
