I stayed here for 3 nights and had a really lovely time. Anelyse and Sam really want you to feel at home and provide a lovely place for you to relax and enjoy Battambang.
It's a 20 minute cycle in to the main town and they have bicycles that you can use free of charge.
The breakfast is great with a variety of fruits, eggs, baguette, and brioche.
I also took a tour with Sam which was really inciteful and provided a lot of information on the local area and the history of the people.
The only thing I would recommend, if you are not French speaking, is to try and book a tour on a day when the majority of people are not French. I did feel a little out of the loop at times as there was a lot of French chat which I could not follow.
Overall a lovely experience though a d I would definitely recommend.

I stayed with them for 2 nights and it was a great experience. It is a little out of town but they have bikes or call a tuk-tuk for you. Even though I was the only German among French everyone was really trying to not make me feel out of place. I did the Tour with Sam and I can highly recommend it. He took us to wonderful places away from the tourist paths!
The Khmer restaurant around the corner had awesome food for very reasonable prices. Go there and you will definitely love Battambang!

A nice little bed and breakfast in Battambang with 5 star service from the staff. Definitely recommend to spend more than just a few days in this town as there are some great things to go do an see. Ask for information when you arrive about what you should go visit. There is much history to be learned in this area!

It was truly a magical experience to stay with Sam and Anelyse and to experience the real Cambodia after visiting the awe-inspiring but highly touristy temples of Angkor in Siem Reap. The day trip with Sam was one of the highlights of our trip and offered an interesting perspective on the lives and challenges of people living through the Khmer Rouge rule and the optimism of the Cambodian people. A visit to the rural villages was truly special, with children waving 'hello' and running in the fields and being able to witness rural farm life first hand without feeling like an intruder. The opportunity to stay in a traditional house in town was truly special and it was close to 'The Bamboo Train' restaurant which we enjoyed both nights. You will not regret staying here and experiencing the real Cambodia.

Some people go on vacation while others travel. If you are the latter, then a visit to Battambang and 2 days or more with Sarom is required. We travel to learn - and when we learn we appreciate. You can witness the glorious temples in Siem Reap and understand early Cambodian civilization and learn about the more recent history in Phnom Penh but the tour that Chez Sam offers that you should take weaves it all together into a better understanding of present-day Cambodia. Throughout our travels across Cambodia, I could not imagine having missed this experience. The opportunity to partake in Cambodian way of life (e.g., take a boat to the middle of the lake to swim with the lotus flowers) and to share the experience with Sarom, Annie and other guests as though we are one family is one experience that I will forever remember. Stories are told when it is worthwhile telling. Many stories have been told about this one!

We spent two nights at Sam and Anelyse's house and did a one-day tour with Sam in December 2011. The whole stay was the nicest part of our trip. The house is located in a nice residential area of Battambang. The room and the bathrooms are clean. Sam and Anelyse made the stay wonderful. They treated us like we are friends. They provided banana on the dining tables. We enjoyed dinner from the market together. The food is really great. In the morning, we sat outside around a cozy table to enjoy the great breakfast, which includes bread, homemade jam and fresh fruits.

The trip was very special. We spent one day with Sam and the other two families. We visited the rural area on both tuk-tuk and motorcycle. We visited several traditional makers, such as, rice paper, boat makers, mushroom farmer, etc. We also saw rice fields and great view over the fields in the area. The whole trip is non-touristic (although we are still tourists :P). The people we met on the trip were very friendly. It's very nice to have the opportunity to experience the real rural Cambodia. Highly recommended.

When we arrived Battambang, Sam and Anelyse sent a tuk-tuk to pick us up from the bus station. The tuk-tuk also took us to the boat that we were taking to Siem Reap.

We have been spending 4 days with Sam and Anelyse, wonderful stay in this modest guest house in the middle of Battambang.
2 bathrooms for 4 rooms, with fan or air con, we had one with fan clean and not noisy at all, nice and plentyful breakfast with home made marmalade, (Sam goes to the market each morning you can come with him)
Sarom (Sam) is a Khmer who had been living in France and who decided to go back to Cambodia, with a projet: explain the culture Khmer to the tourists.
Each day you will know a little bit more about artisans and craft of the area in tuk tuk or in motorbike if you like it
We all enjoy, wondeful memories
