We really enjoyed our stay at the Cabaret vert!
The hotel is splendid and the bungalow was beautiful and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is a bit outside the city centre, which makes the hotel really calm and quiet.

We were surprised not be offered any drinkable water or at least not to be able to refill our bottles at a water fountain. Previous hotels we went to in Cambodia offered this service, which we very much appreciated as it was really hot! Also, we enjoyed the breakfast but wished there would be more variety. Basically, if one does not want to eat eggs or noodles, they will have to pay an extra.

We were so glad we chose to stay at Au Cabaret Vert instead of a guesthouse in the downtown area, which is a bit on the gritty side. All seven villas at Au Cabernet Vert overlook the pool and surrounding gardens. Such a spot to relax! Our villa was large, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was good and I can also recommend the restaurant for lunch and dinner. Yummy and not overpriced, as is sometimes the case when a guesthouse or resort thinks they have a captive audience.

It is only a $2 tuk tuk charge to go downtown if you want to eat at a restaurant such as Coconut Lyly’s. Otherwise, not much to see and do there. Main reason to go to Battambang is the surrounding area. The hotel can fix you up with a lovely, two-part day tour which takes you out in the morning, back for a three hour rest in the heat of the day, and the out to the temple / killing field / bat cave for late day. The sight of one million bats flying out of a cave at sunset is not to be missed!!

Located a little way out of town in more of an industrial area it was a pleasant surprise walking around from the road to the back entrance to find this pretty place with gardens and pool. The French influence was clear with a lot of French guests. The rooms themselves are spacious if a little run down. The bed was comfortable. The shower had a funny hot water heater, the higher the pressure the cooler the water, and the bathroom floor got wet very easily and the floor was slippery. Breakfast was included with the room and was nice. We also ate lunch here on both days and the restaurant food was exceptional.
Our second morning we were woken at 5am to loud music which continued all morning- a local wedding so not the fault of the hotel.
Overall a pleasant stay in pretty surrounds and glad we experienced the restaurant.

My only complaint is that we didn't stay long enough! 2 nights is too little time - not only at the very lovely Au Cararet Vert but also in Battambang itself. I highly recommend the resort though - everything was lovely - the atmosphere, the gardens, the accommodation, the food. Matthieu is an exceptional host - welcoming, informative, interesting and just lovely to chat to. His warm and gentle disposition is reflected in the ambiance of the resort and the attitude of the staff - who were also so hospitable. Thank you for such a pleasant stay Matthieu - we would love to come again and spend more time exploring your quaint town and enjoying more of your excellent hospitality! Regards, Brigitte & Adam :)

Our family of four (2 teenage boys) spent three nights in the two-room bungalow and sort of fell in love with this place. Awesome experience all around from even from the very start:

—Prompt, clear and helpful email communication to arrange transportation, answer questions, et el, in advance.
—Beautiful grounds! So lush and tropical and serene. Loved the little sitting areas and fishy spa.
—Spacious rooms, hot water, generous in-room coffee packets, bungalow patios with overhead fans.
—Excellent service!! They helped us book a tuk tuk tour with an awesome English-speaking guide, arranged for massages and even helped me plan a little birthday celebration (with a cake!) for my son. Really, everything was just so seamless, and everyone so warm and genuine.
—Above average food. Breakfast (included with our room) was generous and tasty. We had dinner here one night, as well, and while not inexpensive, completely worth it. Loads of both Khmer and French dishes.
—Appreciated the eco-friendly approach (including the pool). A water refill station would be a good addition, though. Hate to fill this lovely country with more plastic water bottles.
—Close enough to town. True, this place wasn’t in the center of the city, but we enjoyed the spaciousness and serenity. $2 tuk tuk drive is so easy, it hardly matters.
—Family friendly, but not over the top. We would have been happy here as a couple.

Have traveled quite a bit across SE Asia, with stays in both luxury hotels (work) and mid-range (family). Really, we just loved this place! Wish we could have stayed longer.
