The hotel stands on stilts on inle lake, but is connected to a village by a small bridge. The lady at the reception was extremely helpful, booked air tickets for us, helped us get a room at our next destination and found us someone to share the ride and the cost of the boat back to the mainland. Its fairly isolated and you can sit and watch the local and tourist boats ply the waters. You see a lot of local life by the lake. One major downside is that you are very likely to be woken up by 5am or so by the sound of motor boat engines which are crossing the lake. Getting a garden view room does not solve this problem. Another financial factor to consider when booking the hotel is that it costa about 15000 kyats one way from the mainland (nyaung shwe) to the hotel. This can seriously bump up your travel costs if you are wtaching it. Food at the restaurant is good. Wifi is free but can be spotty.

my first trip to Myanmar and the Lake and this hotel was one of my favourites. The staff were excellent. The hotel clean. The hotel is in the middle of a large lake so there is nowhere to go at night. Fortunately the dinner was very good. They could have made use of a tree house which would have been perfect to see the sunset and have a pre and post dinner drink. The mangager tells me they have plans for this. We had a side room so did not have the best of views, so ask for a room facing the lake, though this is more expensive.
Had a wonderful time in Myanmar. Go soon as it is getting very popular and there are not enough hotels, so prices are increasing fast.

Room Tip: Ask fo one facing the lake

A great resort, rooms good but bathrooms are tight. Breakfast staff and dinner are fabulous, front desk great, free wifi, free computer, great views, convenient location,
Wonderful views at sunset. The only negative is the noise from the outboards but they are everywhere u stay.

Loved my stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here for 2 nights - it was a real pleasure to stay in some luxury after trekking from Kalaw too!
We had one of the bungalows facing west towards the main channel; you can see them on the hotel's website. I don't think I would have liked the standard rooms as much as they are located off a dark corridor to the side of the hotel or the ones behind us that faced east and away from the boats. Yes, as many people have commented, the boats are noisy but you have to adapt to them - go to bed at 9pm and be prepared to be woken up from about 5.30am onwards. The location is isolated. You can walk out of the back and into the local village, but there aren't any restaurants there so be prepared to eat in the hotel restaurant for a couple of nights. The food is no better than OK but service is good as long as you get into the restaurant before the big tour groups - check with the staff what time they're booked in. You will get charged about 30-40% more than in the local town's restaurants.
But the advantages of the hotel outnumber the disadvantages - watching the boats go by, (both local and tourists), the sunsets, the water lapping around the room (and the gentle swaying when a big boat goes by). I would gladly stay here again but two nights is enough.

Stayed here for 2 nights. We had a room facing the water. It was enjoyable watching life on the water as you sat on the balcony. Sure the motor boats are noisy, but they don't operate all night and they start early, but you don't come to Inle lake to sleep in. The cabins are very private and have a fridge, tv etc. they are spotless and the bathroom is very good. The service is great, they will come into your room in the evening and drop the mosquito net down over your bed and fold back the bed covers for you. The breakfast was good, and if you like tuhey will bring the breakfast to your room. It was a joy to enjoy a good breakfast watching the waterways.
You have to eat at the restaurant, there is no choice, but the food is ok, if a little overpriced. The service was good though.
It's a great experience.
