“Amazing value for money”

We stayed here for one night between Yangon and the Golden Rock. Had a double room as although it was basic, it was clean, had two fans and hot water. The owners are lovely and willing to go out their way to help you. The motel is located on a busy road so be sure to get a room at the back and be careful when crossing the road! There are other backpackers here as well so you can meet up with other backpackers.

All in all great value at $20.

When we arrived by bus in Bago, the only thing we heard from locals who wanted to set us up in a hotel, was that San Fransisco Motel is no good. But it is. The owner is super friendly, she gave good directions when we hired bikes, let us cook in her kitchen and was always smiling. A good place to come home to after a sweaty day in Bagan. We had a fan room, which was good for us, but it is pretty warm in town.

Stayed my last night in town here as the guest house where I was wasn't worth the money. $10 single here for pretty quiet room (though I think there were only one or two others staying that night) with non-transparent window, though I don't think it can be opened. Cleanliness was pretty decent and certainly better than other places I've stayed. Can get the wi-fi in the room even though the owner will tell you it's only available downstairs. I think they turn it off at 10:30 though. Soft mattress compared to what you find in Cambodia and Thailand (but I think Myanmar in general uses soft mattresses). The 2 owners are quite friendly and always willing to help or answer questions. I was woken up at 5 something in the morning when the person turned on the hallway light for the day. Clip-clop, shoes or something - really ticked me off. The other thing that really disturbed me was the way the boy is spoken to by one of the sisters. I'm pretty sure he's more slave status than anything. A real shame. Be aware that the only disadvantage to this location is crossing the street, especially at rush hour and at night.

If looking for A/C, hot water ad other luxury go elsewhere.
The hotel is pretty basic but our room (first floor, backside) was clean, big enough, with ensuite toilet/shower, 2 windows and balcony.
No breakfast (you can have a cheap one at the bar 20m exiting right), no WiFi but good price.
As said by many other reviews below, what make this place special are the two sisters running the guest house (ThuZar and Ei). They are so kind and passionate that, just after few minutes, you’ll feel like with your best friend.
An experience you should not miss is a tour around Bago temples with ThuZar motorcycle (unless you are not driving your own). Better go in late afternoon when all the daily tourist masses return to Yangon and the temple state fee collectors go home. Try to be at sunset at the outdoor sleeping Buddha (not the old one, the new and bigger) when its colour nuances are stunning.

Room Tip: Stay on the back side, the front road is very noisy.

Very nice Motel.
The staff where super friendly and helpful.
They gave me all the necessary information on what to visit, how to get there and best time of day to visit.
They helped me book my ticket to Mawlamyine.
There is no restaurant, but in the evenings I sat downstairs with the staff, drinking something and chatting.
Highly recommendable budget place.

Great option on Bago. We went without reservation and got a very large, clean and airy twin room, with bathroom and balcony for $15. Fan only but room wasn't too hot. No hot water but don't need it in March! No breakfast but plenty of tea houses nearby. Very sweet and friendly lady works there. She helped organise a motorbike tour of the sites for 5000 kyat. Really enjoyed that and would recommend the tour and the guest house. Recommend you try the ice cream parlour which is across the road and down past the bank. Run by a lovely couple and their food is great too and they have free wifi there.

We only spent here 4 hours as we arrived late at night and left with the first bus, but the room was clean and the price was good. We had a reservation so they opened up quite late for us. We also would like to thank them for organising our bus ticket for us, which is a bit of a trust issue since they had to pay for it in advance and were worried that we might not turn up. Thank you so much for trusting us!
