this monastery is really beautiful and old. stunning scenery. You can even stay in a room there. very tranquil. Have lots of amazing restaurants just down the road in oreshak, try the traditional one, just make sure you ask for fillet, not chicken or pork pieces, beautiful food,m saladsa must.

“One of the beautiful Bulgarian monasteries”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 25, 2012

One of the beautiful Bulgarian monasteries, especially at spring and summer.
Founded in 17th century, the main church dates back to the beigining of 19th century. Home of one of the icons of Three Handed Virgin Mary.
Great places to eat around.
Official kermesse day: August 15th (Assumption of Mary for the Orthodox church). Traditionally, a big fair is held around the monastery on that day which makes its buildings very difficult to visit.

The icone of the Holly Mother "Bogoroditza triruchitza" - Sta Maria with the 3 hands is inside the church of the monastery. Prays infront this icone are helping woman to get a child. The monastery is situated one and half hour driving from Sofia. In the neighburhood there is a good restaurnat "Kaizera" where its possible to try the local specialities.

Once there you travel back in history. The feeling that people still have values is warming to the heart.
