“Lovely hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2012

Maybe we got lucky with our Bulgarian trip, but every hotel we stayed in was good, including this one. It is very clean and modern, breakfast was good with plenty of fresh fruit and coffee, and the girls who work at the front desk are extremely friendly and helpful. It's situated right in the middle of the old town and, while tricky to get to by car, is a short walk from the bus stop and the beach. We had a nice view from our balcony too. Wish we could have stayed longer.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 1 night during a visit to Nessebar. The lady in reception had excellent customer service skills and spoke very good English. Although parking spaces at the hotel are limited there was ample parking nearby at a reasonable price. The bedroom was nicely furnished, however the bathroom was on the small side. I do think that this hotel was let down by the breakfast. The breakfast was a cold buffet. We had to ask for glasses for the orange juice. There was also no milk to put on the cereals so again we needed to ask . Very poor selection of fruit on the buffet table and they had run out of bread to put in the toaster, although one of the ladies serving breakfast did go out to the nearby shop to get some more. The coffee was stewed and lukewarm so not a very good experience at breakfast. However due to the good position of this hotel it did not spoil our short stay in Nessebar.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 2nd floor which was ideal and enjoyed sitting out on the balcony.

Perfect location in the middle of old town with a view of the bay. Surrounded by ruins, small pretty shops, coffees and restaurants with Delicious traditional food. Walking around day and night is safe and very enjoyable. Unique place and one of my favourite in Bulgaria. Must visit

Room Tip: ask for a view of the bay room and upper floor.

The hotel is located in the historic town, surrounded by ruins, from the balcony you could have a beautiful view of the bay. It is surrounded by many restaurants with great traditional food, a lot of shops, with silver objects, ceramics, folk art from the Balkans.
When evening comes, the little town is spoiled by the sea breeze. We listened the music from tavernes, very discrete in small restaurants, where you let the flavors delight and feel a cozy, romantic atmosphere surrounds. Unforgettable!

We stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel was very clean. The location was great. Right in the middle of Old Town Nessebar. The parking was inadequate. Very tight spaces and difficult to find a space. But, what can you expect in and ancient village? The room itself was average, by American standards. Nothing fancy, but very adequate. Minimal electrical outlets (three for the entire room). The staff at the front desk were busy doing other things most of the time (talking on their cell phones, visiting with friends on the patio. The breakfast was average. We got there at the end of breakfast and all hot food was cold. All in all I would stay here again. It is in such a great location and easy to see all of Old Town Nessebar. The hotel is about 6 years old.

Room Tip: Cover the drains in the bathroom (including the sink drain) when not in use as the sewer tends to sm...

My wife and I stayed at the Royal Palace Hotel for 3 nights, and although our first impressions of the hotel were very good, this spiralled down to the worst stay we have experiences in any hotel in the world. The hotel, though well situated had a number of problems such as tight parking spaces down a drive with cars blocking the exit. Breakfast was reasonable, but there was never any milk, tea or coffee and if you wanted eggs get down at 8am as only one lot is made and not replenished, it felt as if you were constantly asking for things and the staff were not very pleased about replenishing anything. The room was supposed to have internet but did not, the key card (needed to be swiped at a very precise slow speed to work) turned on and off electricity so fridge was off during the day, the lighting on the balcony was all controlled by one master switch for ever room and went off at 10.30pm prompt for everyone. I inquired as to whether this could be changed to later in order to read on the balcony and was told by receptionist to read in the room. I replied this was unreasonable and was told it was because people wanted to sleep (although there was a brightly lit monument just outside the hotel), so why are they all controlled by one switch and why not use curtains like most other hotels, if want to control lighting by one master switch?. I asked to speak to the manager the next morning. On returning to the hotel that evening, a young lady introduced herself as the manager, she appeared to me, to have no management skills, she talked for about 3 minutes about it being HER hotel, so she will run it the way she wanted and I should be grateful she was speaking English, she then asked what was the problem, as I started to voice my concerns she spoke over me and refused to allow me to explain that it was not so much the light timing issue, it was the way in which I was spoken to by the staff the previous evening, she started to shout over me, which then lead to a shouting match in reception as I was not prepared to be spoken to like this when paying to stay. My wife tried to speak to her and she started shouting at her, even when my wife asked her not to yell at her, at which stage my wife get very upset and had to leave. I asked to leave the hotel but the receptionist demanded if we did we would have to pay for the full pre booked 3 nights. The next night as I pointed to the dark balcony at 10.30 after returning from a meal a receptionist said she would ring the police.
So as can be gathered from the above comments I strongly recommend that no holiday makers choose this hotel for a holiday unless they like a boot camp mentality and we moved onto much better hotels in Nessebar and Sozopol, which were cheaper, very friendly staff and went out of there way to make our stay very pleasant and surprisingly allowed you to have lighting on until whatever time you chose and YES you did have your own switch.
