This hotel is 5 mins away from the madness of the main street in Borovets, far enough away for a peaceful night sleep but close enough to get straight in to your daily activities.

We had a family room slept 3, the extra bed could probably have been a bit more softer but the rooms were huge and the bathroom with hot fast flowing shower and bath. There is a hugh balcony overlooking the green slope which passes the hotel. The hotel has a built in ski school so you can hire all ski/board equiptment from thr basement and then ski straight to the main gondola. I may add the double bed was big enough for all 3 adults to sleep in and very compfy

The food is ok, could be better and possibly have a microwave to warm the buffet food up in the evening. The staff are more friendly then anywhere else we have stayed in Bulgaria but I have to add that the really friendly middle aged male waiters have a very strong body odour smell which is a bit off putting in the morning and evening (maybe this is acceptable over there I dont know)

One thing we had a problem was we between 3 people spent 100 lev £60 on cups of tea over the week. No tea or coffee facilities in the hotel room but there is a mini bar which is best left without

Nice Spa and pool in hotel with cheap treatments and wifi in the lobby and restaurant

The other hotels were huge and overpowering and probably difficult to get a good nights sleep as the locals are very very pushy in trying to intice you into their bars

Great views and great atmosphere, the rooms high standard, and clean

Glad I stayed here then anywhere else

Room Tip: We were in 201 which was corner and overlooking the slopes, id request a slope view

Just returned from a weeks skiing holiday (Feb 2nd to Feb 9th 2013) in Borovets, Bulgaria. It was my girlfriends first skiing holiday and we choose the hotel Yanakiev. Bulgaria had been recommended as a great country to visit and Borovets for those looking to experience their first skiing holiday.
The hotel Yanakiev is one of the best hotels I have stayed in for a skiing holiday. We had a couple of questions for the hotel prior to our departure and the lovely Iliana responded to our emails on the very same day. Love to thank Iliana for all her help and also the fantastic room she allocated for us, room 205. Slope view room.
The hotel overall is of the highest standard. Extremely clean, warm and comfortable. We arrived after the restaurant's normal closing time but the hotel kept the restaurant open so we all could get a meal after a days travelling. l have read a lot of reviews of the quality of the food. I have to disagree. Yes it's Bulgaria, however for half board, the standard of food for both breakfast and dinner was fine. There is something for everyone.
There is a fantastic lounge area with views over the slope with comfortable chairs, sofas and free Wifi. Stan the bartender looked after the drinks and always greeted you with a smile.
For those looking to take their own ski's and boots, the Yanakiev has a secure ski depot and is staffed extremely well. I had my ski's serviced on arrival for 20 Lev. As good as anywhere in the UK. The Yanakiev is a ski in - ski out hotel which is always a must.
After a days skiing, the Yanakiev has a fantastic spa with swimming pool, sauna, steam room etc.
The only slight criticism and to be honest it comes down to personal choice, although we did not mind, the rooms do not have coffee and tea making facilities.
We have nothing but praise for the Yanakiev and it's staff. Thank you so much for making our holiday perfect. Looking forward to seeing you all again.

We have just got back from our second skiing holiday to Borovets. Last year we stayed in the Rila Hotel, there is no comparison, the Yanakiev was far more superior. The Rila is a much larger hotel, with no escape from noise and no personal touch due to the amount of guests staying. The Yanakiev upon arriving we were greeted with friendly reception staff, no queues for check-in and our room was lovely, we had a view of the slope, a big balcony, bedroom and bathroom. All clean inc linen with free toiletries throughout the stay. Each night, it was lovely and quiet so got a good night's sleep, which cannot be said for the Rila. Hotel is in a good location as you can simply collect your skis from the hotel depot and ski straight across to the 4 man chair lift. If you hire your equipment from the hotel or have your own skis it's free to leave them in the depot, otherwise if you have hired from elsewhere you have to pay 5 lev per night. Hotel is about 5 mins walk from the bars and restaurants, either walking down the green slope, or alternatively out of the front of the hotel along the road. Food was ok at the hotel, although we did tend to eat out most nights as food and drink very reasonable. All staff were very friendly and were happy to chat if you started a conversation with them. Swimming pool and spa both good and can recommend having a massage. All in all we had a good time and would definitely recommend the Yanakiev over all other hotels in Borovets

Very good location for ski in ski out although if you need to go to the Gondola walking a bit hard with all the equipment. a small hotel. wifi is free but not available in the rooms just in the loby. staff was very friendly with a welcome bag of food (as we arrived at midnight).

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor slop view room or you will get as we got a room with the road view...

We had a weeks holiday in Borovets staying at Hotel Yanakiev over new year.
The hotel in my opinion is in a very good location, away from the two very big main hotels that dominate borovets, although small sometimes thats better as we didnt have a problem with children running around which seemed to be a problem when we went to have a look around the other hotels.
The hotel does have the facility to store your skiing equipment at an extra change and also you can hire it from there aswell.
We had two rooms at different ends of the hotel both where comfortable and very clean and warm as is the reception areas and bar area. The staff on the front desk and the bar are friendly and helpful.. However this is not the case in the restaurant, we got the impression the waiters couldn't wait for everyone to vacate and would stand and glare, making eating sometimes slightly uncomfortable. we were half board and the food is there to be had IF you are the first to arrive, what is put out is never replenished once its gone your out of luck! and a bit like previous comments im sure when it first comes out its hot but don't bank on having a hot meal.
The cafe - restaurant that is attached to the hotel outside although shuts at 5pm i think, serves lovely hot food cooked to order although the menu is not huge each time we ate there we were never disappointed and the prices are so reasonable . I would recommend this hotel and i would defiantly return .
