Most Sao Paulo hotels get funny about you bringing a guest back to your room. If you turn up with someone at night, they will often demand R$50 to R$70, even if your hotel room is booked for two guests (I'm looking at you, Bourbon on Carvalho and Golden Tulip Belas Artes). But this hotel doesn't bat an eyelid. They never check ID, they don't care who you bring home - and locally, it's famous for it. So from that perspective it's the best hotel in the area. And the overhead bunk bed is... ahem... interesting...

Close to the gay area around Vieira Carvalho, and mostly safe to walk to - there's a 24 hour police booth opposite Cantho, so walk to and from it that way. Like anything in Sao Paulo, don't be an idiot and you're perfectly safe.

Rest is as others describe. It's basic but clean, though they don't seem to bother cleaning the floor if you stay for several days. Rate is a relative bargain - I've stayed at a dozen Sao Paulo hotels, but this is now my default hotel of choice.

This is a basic hotel. Bring your own shampoo and ask for a hair dryer at the front desk. Bed and bath facilities were clean, if a bit cramped. Wifi works great- you just have to pay extra for it. Breakfast was somewhat sparse for the price (everything was cold, only hot option was to make your own toast at the table). Friendly, helpful staff were efficient and polite. This is fine as a basic hotel accommodation in central Sao Paulo. No frills, few amenities but clean and located conveniently.

I've stayed at this hotel many times before, and will probably stay many more in the future. It's very conveniently located, even if its inner-city neighbourhood is not without problems. In all fairness, I've noticed a great deal of improvement in the area, as city authorities are trying to "clean it up". Other than that, it's reasonably priced, with clean rooms and friendly, attentive staff. Great value for money.

A compact basic room, but clean with all the essentials. A Double bed with a bunk bed above your head to accomodate a third person if required. 5 minutes walk from the metro, with a few shops and eateries nearby. Near enough to walk to the centre and take in many of the main sites.

This hotel itself is a good one. Rooms are clean, well mantained and cozy. But this location is somewhat strange. It is located in the centre of São Paulo, a region that is not easy to understand. The subway station is close, but not close enough to carry a large luggage by foot. At night, avoid to do this or you will be stoled. If you want to stay in formule 1, prefer Paraiso location or Consolação. These are more close to subway and more safe to go out at night. And remember, during the check in time the lines are outrageuos and very slow. You will have to wait up to 60 minutes in a line.
