“The best quality steak house ever”
Reviewed September 17, 2013

Fogo de Chao is a Brazilian steak house that is conquering US with its quality food and service.

To start with, this steak house has first quality meat, serving special cuts Brazilian style, a huge and diverse salad bar and a good wine list. If arriving by car, when you arrive a valet parking will immediately take care of your car. As soon as you sit, some appetisers are already served and your drink's order taken and served.

In the salad bar you can find a wonderful variety of greens and vegetables as well cheese, charcuterie and some Brazilian typical dishes.

All sorts of meat (many different cuts of beef, chicken, sausages, sheep, pork...) are served in a system that is called in Portuguese "rodizio". Waiters fly around tables in a almost dance pace with sticks where grilled meat where placed. They put the stick on your plate and cut the slice you choose (rare, median, well done... they will advise or send someone with your exact choice).

You have a sign read or green to signalise when you want them to stop serving you.

The house started in my hometown Porto Alegre, Southern Brazil and became the favourite steak house in Sao Paulo and in Brazil. Nowadays it has more places in US then in Brazil. But still, the one in Santo Amaro Avenue in Sao Paulo is my favourite.

Try "picanha", "fraldinha", "costela" for meat, fried manioc and their crispy onions rings. You will not regret it, especially if you are a meat lover.

Fogo de Chao is one of my favourite steak houses ever.

“Very good meat, and lots of it”
Reviewed September 13, 2013

If you like meat in large quantities, then you should go here. Don't fill up on the salad or the bread they bring! Meat was superb tenderness and not overcooked, however most of it was very salted/seasoned which I found a little strange. They are happy to bring you whatever cut of meat you like as well as chicken/pork/lamb as well.
Its rather expensive, but that is only to be expected with a high end place like this. The staff are fantastic and literally run around serving you the second you turn over your green card for more meat.
The senior waiter seemed a little pushy for more drinks, some desert, etc and also asked me right away when paying the bill (after giving him the cash) did he want me to take the service charge (10%) out of my change. I was going to leave more than that from the change, but the pushyness to do it I just left it at 10%. Perhaps this is a cultural thing I don't understand but I didn't appreciate it.

“If You Like Meat..”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

If you are a meat lover, Fogo de Chao is pretty hard to beat. In addition to the salad bar, fully stocked with cheese and cold cuts, the grilled cheese and potato dishes are good too. Servers come by with cuts of beef, pork, chicken and lamb. You have a round card with a red and green side which will cue your servers whether to keep serving or not. Be sure to go hungry. I didn't get a single cut of meat which wasn't savory and tender. The servers will cut your preferred rare medium or well done off the long skewers. The sauces served with the meats are also tailored to suit the flavor.

“No words can do justice”
Reviewed August 18, 2013

Do yourself a favour and if you can go to a Fogo Chao restaurant, do it. Not only is the food beyond outstanding but the service and attention to detail is everything you could ask for. Possibly bot the best place for a vegetarian although the salads were fabulous too. Be sure not to eat for the day before you go. Not cheap but worth every penny.
