“Great business hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 30, 2013

Excellent, large and clean rooms with great breakfast. The location make this place far from the noisy part of the city but still close to the business area as you are in Sao Paulo, I think it is not easy the access without a car for other places or pay just an expensive taxi. The staff from this hotel is really helpful. The rooms are just perfect and a guarantee of good night sleep. The price is a little bit overpriced but what sort of things in Sao Paulo is not overprice????

Located in the south part of São Paulo in the middle of a business area. Very convenient for people like me who have their company at walking distance. Not suggested to tourists as the city center is a bit far away. Big nice rooms, mostly with a small balcony. Smoking rooms available upon request. Good breakfast buffet. Professional and kind staff. Room service takes long and the quality is poor. Laundry service efficient and at good price.

Poor to very poor experience in key areas. Uncomfortable beds. Dirty carpet in room. No in room safe OR at the front desk (they offered to change the room to one that does have a safe; other members of my business group experienced the same). The restaurant is to be avoided.
Even for breakfast...

Official checkin time is 2pm, official checkout time is 12noon. When a rate is arranged by local company it is likely that checkin is possible at noon, especially if staying several nights and as part of a group. The desk was capably handled by three receptionists, there is no single line, so actively manage your place in the 'queue'. On subsequent days (especially Sunday) checkin/out volume peaked at noon.
The lobby had ice water and wrapped apples, two seating areas, and plenty of staff. The taxi from GRU to this hotel took about 75 minutes on medium traffic. It may be possible to take the bus (http://www.aeroportoguarulhos.net/transporte-onibus-aeroporto-guarulhos about 35 R$ and thus significant savings) to Itaim Bibi and then take a taxi from there (or possibly even the train along the Pinheiros river).

The room was spacious, carpeted, minibar, 220V outlets with cornered flat three prong connects, one had an adaptor for US grounded 3-prong plugs. Ample hanging space, and a suitcase stand. Put your key card into the slot next to the entrance to enable electricity.
Very nice work desk with comfortable, adjustable office chair, small balcony, an extra window (all nice insulated double pane). Bed with comfortable firm matrass. Bathroom with granite, vanity mirror, hair dryer, glass door shower.

This hotel group does not work with any major chain or frequent flyer program.
It is possible to walk to the Granja Julieta train station on the Pinheiro river and then take the frequent train in either direction. One stop north is the Murumbi shopping center (which is walkable form the hotel, if you can handle slightly over a mile on foot.) The Mall had a no-commission foreign exchange place Câmbio called Sagitur [http://morumbishopping.com.br/portal/lojas/?l=sagitur] which is a good deal for changing a small amount of money. As opposed to airports, there is no 10-12US$ flat fee, so even just exchanging 20US$ into R$ is reasonable. For large sums, a commission-based exchange may give you a more favorable rate though.
Also reasonably close to the hotel is a big Carrefour supermarket.

For travel on public transport, try to get a Bilhete Unico for 15R$ . This is sold at lotericas Mon-Sat. For 3$ you can take up to 3 bus lines within 4hours. There is a bus stop very close to the hotel, take line 5318-10 to Ibirapuera Park (25mins, 17stops) or to Praca da Se (42mins, 28stops). This line runs about every 10 mins. google maps knows the public transport schedule.

This hotel offers special weekend rates on their website. The internet connection on the 5th floor was intermittent, yet remained connected for most of the time, and even reasonably fast at times. Skype was possible, although typically broke up every ten minutes for a minute or two.

I would probably not come back here unless it was on a weekend special. Their rates are too high for the area (list price starts at 550 Reais, negotiated company rates are about 350 Reais, weekend online specials start at 159 Reais, ie if you are staying Fri/Sat/Sun night on a company rate you would do much better if you had booked through their website.
I tried to appeal to the front desk personnel's common sense to get me changed to that rate for the last night of my stay, however partly due to language barrier remained at the negotioated company rate. Here is what I probably should have done:
1. at checkin affirmatively change the checkout date to Friday morning. Ignore any comments that the reservation was made by an agency and only they could change the duration of the stay.
2. once reservation change is confirmed, book the weekendrate on their website
3. checkout on Friday before noon
4. checkin after noon on Friday)

The hotel has a good restaurant. There are a few dinner restaurants in walking distance, and a lot of lunch restaurants nearby. Two cafes very close, out the front of the hotel turn left.

Room tip:
Checking in before noon will cost an additional night.
Definitely check rates on their website, especially for weekend days, easily save 50%
Cell phones and room key do not get along, if the key does not work in the elevator, have it remade at the front desk.
Rooms facing away from reception front fountain are probably quieter.
Some people smoke in front of the hotel, smoke rises, rooms facing away from hotel front are probably better for non-smokers
Windows had shutters that completely darkened the room - very nice!

Concerning some other Tripadvisor member comments:
Yes, they do have a small pool. It was clean. It is practically right next to the reception.
Yes, the towels were thin. I did find them fit for purpose and actually liked them as I prefer usable thinner towels over fluffy non-absorbent ones so often encountered in premium hotels.
Yes, the area is safe. A little less crowded on the weekends, and after dark, but generally felt OK during the stay walking in the neighborhood.
Next time in the area I will test out the Ibis at Morumbi Mall.

First of all, prices for hotels in downtown Sao Paolo are insane (during the week), so be prepared. the prices drop by 50% on the weekends. I thought this hotel was very nice, very quiet at night, with excellent food. Dinner was $$$, but everything here is $$$. There are no irons in the rooms, but the hotel will iron your clothes for about $6 per garment. The area is really dead on the weekend, but busy during the week until about 8PM.

Old Hotel that was badly renovated. The room was dirty, specially the bathroom. Lobby area was nice and the breakfast was average. Would not stay there again. The Hotel is well located, near the main business area in Sao Paulo and good shopping centers.

I was really not happy about our accomodations in this hotel. We stayed over the weekend. The hotel was completely empty, and the best room they conjourd up for us was far from our expectations. From the site, the luxury room seemed like a dream; in real life the long grey hallways that sink of cigarette ash and huge grey bedrooms with dirty carpets that triggered a dust mite allergy were far from what was shown on their website. The bathroom is decent, the bed is a king size, but not comfy. No comforter on the bed, just a sinthetic blanket. I will request a room change or else i check out 2 days early. I do not recommend this hotel for anyone with children or looking for comfort. Maybe its ok for a business trip, but I'd much rather stay at a decently priced Ibis than stay here again.
