“Busy street”
Reviewed August 25, 2013

It's a nice street for a walk in the city. It's very safe and very busy. Go on a Sunday afternoon when the markets are open and there is lots of street music for a more interesting experience.

“One of the prettiest landmarks in Sao Paulo!”
Reviewed August 20, 2013

Large concentration of skyscrapers (similar to Canary Wharf in London) in the city, this avenue also has great restaurants, bars and cultural places.

The Paulista Avenue is known as the business heart of the city and is just beautiful! Totally worth it to visit!

Highly recommended!

“Forlorn 'malls' with little to desire...”
Reviewed August 14, 2013

The center of the city was in a word depressing, having visited SP in the 70's I expected more, but found less....
The heavy presence of security was disconcerting given the location, and foretold of severe concerns for public safety..

“Big busy street in a big city”
Reviewed August 9, 2013

Lots to see on this busy street. The architecture is pretty boring, but there are a lot of people to watch and a fair number of street performers. Your typical big city busy business district. Keep your eye out for the old smaller houses that pop up on your route. Most of these have been designated as historical sites but are in ruin. We're told the families that owned some of them are so bitter at having lost their opportunity to cash in that they've just let the places go to rot rather than maintain or renovate them.

For the best way to experience the Avenue, take the SP Free Walking Tour.

“Watching people”
Reviewed August 8, 2013

It is very nice spot to spend time walking, sitting in a table in the sidewalk and watching all kind of people you wonder. The avenue is the major point for all kind of movements, parades, striking, etc. - recently it was everyday in the evening news. Also there is the famous MASP - a nice museum of art and a antique fair on sunday morning. It is considered the most typical point of Sao Paulo lifestyle.
