Owner description: Calm, green and refreshing, the city's botanical garden, situated inside the immense Parque Estadual Fontes do Ipiranga (PEFI) on the south side of town, provides a beautifully appointed sanctuary for thousands of tropical plant and animal species. The garden opened in 1938 to preserve part of the remaining Atlantic coastal forest, and it functions as a research facility focusing on Brazilian flora and fauna. The garden also shelters the source of the Rio Ipiranga, which figures heavily into national patriotic lore.

“Relaxing Day in the nature”
Reviewed May 21, 2014

Lots of green gardens with a water pond. Nice for a walk in the nature and just relax seeing different kinds of plants and flowers. There is a restaurant buffet style that can complete your day at this place.

“Tropical nature”
Reviewed May 17, 2014 via mobile

Although it is far from downtown, its beaty worth the it. Well kept tropical nature. A very calm place to walk, to take pictures and to appreciate different flowers and trees. Parking is not easy here and not cheap. Good for all ages.

“Beautiful place but left of”
Reviewed May 13, 2014

It' s a great place, very relaxing. But, there is some problems, that in my personal point of vue, make the place a little less beautiful from what we expect.
The place is huge, but seems left of, it could be better , he just need a little "lifting" , a little more attention for some details: make the garden a little more colorful or putting nice rocks on the ground.
