“Big and good variety”

Owner description: It's hard to find a zoo that creates a completely natural habitat for its animals, and the São Paulo Zoo is no exception. Still, staff try to provide a decent home for the more than 3,000 animals in their care, including local luminaries such as the Brazilian howler monkey and the red-breasted toucan. Tue-Sun 9am-5pm

Many kind of animals but the public transportation to Zoo isn't good. The subway should arrive untill Zoo, and you can realize that the Zoo could be clenner.

“Nice, green area with the big city.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 22, 2013

We went during the week and it was not crowded. It was so nice to be within Sao Paulo but in an area that looked very green and natural. I love zoos and have been to many in North America but this was my first in South America. Some of the animals I had never seen elsewhere (tapir, anteater, various bird species). If you go note that the insect house and a few other places only open at specific times so you may want to plan accordingly.

“Animal life in a big city”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 29, 2013

A very nice place to spend a good time and enjoy the view of many exotic animals. Although I've visited other zoos in Europe and other parts of the world, this zoo was the first one I've visited in South America. Well, I was amazed to see the "Anta" (Tapir in English) which was the first time I've seen one. And I've also laughed how people mocked the poor Anta when a mother said to their children: Come on boys, don't loose your time here looking at the "anta" like your father!...

“You would not think São Paulo would have one so good”

The SP ZOO is very well organized and the animals are all put in places which don't seem to be cages. You will have special fun with the monkeys in the entrance.
