“Needs to improve...”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

I went to Sancho Bar y Tapas with some friends on a Friday night. The place is small, so get there early or make a reservation. Tables are very close to one another. Sometimes there’s not enough room to seat comfortably. The service was very slow. We even got one complimentary tapa because of the wait. We didn’t like their potato tortilla. I liked their "jamón" (Spanish ham), but all the tapas that I tried (I tried 4) tasted the same. The only one that had a bit more flavor to it was the one with blue (Gorgonzola).

The good thing about the place is the live music (very good guitar and cello players) and the location, at Augusta Street, close the Paulista Avenue and the subway.

I’m planning to go back to try other items on the menu. See if my opinion of the bar improves. Right now I consider it just an OK place.

“If you are not looking for good spanish food the place is great”
Reviewed May 31, 2013

This is more like a fancy bar than a restaurant really. The name tell it all "BAR".

The decoration is great. Candle light, shades of red and exposed brick walls makes this place very cozy. Spanish poems hand written in chalk on walls gives the place a cool look.
As far as decoration goes, I give it two thumbs up...

I asked for a Paella Valenciana and my wife asked for a potato tortilla. Spanish chardonay wine was the best pick.

After a good 40 minutes dinner was served. It wasn´t bad but it wasn´t good either.
The paella looked and tasted more like a risoto than anything else. Good but that was not a paella... The tortilla was ok but did not hit the "G" point.

Kind of pricey for what they served.... if you are in for 40 different types of beer from all over the world, have some tapas as appetizer... Sancho is the place for you.

Absolutely amazing place!!! The menu has lots of delicious options, everything is made with great quality products, the service is absolutelly kind, the price is incredible low for what they offer!!! The decoration has low light, good music and beautiful Spanish details! We just love here!!! Five stars with a plus!

“A real let down”
Reviewed March 19, 2013 via mobile

Visited this restaurant when it first opened and it was great. Now, the place has deteriorated to a great extent. Service is slow unfriendly and indifferent. The food is expensive and tasteless. Avoid!

“Great fun atmopshere, excellent tapas, delicious cocktails”
Reviewed February 22, 2013

I had dinner here one night in December with two friends also visiting Sao Paulo. This is a fun bar with a frenetic atmosphere serving a wide variety of tapas in true Spanish style. It gets very busy so you might have to wait for a table or dine at the bar unless you get there early to claim your spot. Service was a little slow probably because they were so busy but the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Mixed drinks were fantastic and they also have a comprehenive selection of bottled imported beers. A great place and I look forward to returning.
