Patio del Colegio, Sao Paulo’s birthplace, is where the city was founded on 25th January 1554. There is a nice replica of a building of those times. There is also a church and a nice monument devoted to the founders of the city.
The replica of the original building (made when Jesuits arrived from Portugal) was made in 1974.
Inside the place, you can see remains of the construction of 1681 (made of mud and whale oil). You can also visit the Padre Anchieta Museum, where you can see different artifacts dating from the foundation times and an altar where Pope John Paul II offered a mass.
A lovely place if you are interested in History.
