Pinacoteca is a little gem in Sao Paulo. The building itself is beautiful inside and out. It is one of the few museums in Sao Paulo with quality museum curation. Take a time to enjoy the architectural details also - my friends and I stumbled into beautiful columns in basement, very unusual fountain in the center court, interesting layout. Outdoor cafe lunch was very nice on a sunny day overlooking a park.

Pinacoteca do Estado is located opposite Museu da Língua Portuguesa and Estação da Luz (Museum of the Portuguese Language and "The Light" station if you will). That itself makes this attraction very convenient if you haven't got much time to stay.

If you're not a fan of art and paintings, it's not a problem. It's a lovely place to go on Sunday mornings. There's a little park beside the bulding (both offering an astounding view). By just being there beneath a gazebo and staring at the building one can imagine how it must've been living in the early 1900's.

A pearl for flashbackers.

I do recommend Pinacoteca do Estado for all foreigns who are interested to know more Art at Estado de São Paulo/Brazil as well as the two others amazing museums next door: Museu de Arte Sacra (Catholic sacred art) and Museu da Lingua Portuguesa (Portuguese Language History). The beautiful Railroad Station, buit by English in the begining of the XX Century is nearby too, as well a modern Metro station. Already tired? Enjoy a Expresso at Pinacoteca Cafeteria looking the gardens of Estação da Luz Park.

Beautiful building, usually very good exhibitions; there's a good coffee shop downstairs and the adjoining park, Parque da Luz, is worth visiting.
