“All around very good, but expensive for what you get”
Reviewed April 21, 2009

Can't beat the location, unless you're only going to and from GRU in which case it's a pain. Everything clean, internet decent, maid service good, restaurant food surprisingly good. Previous reviewer was correct, it's gotten rather expensive for the same rooms (and charging for the "business center" is a rip-off).

This was our first holiday in Sao Paulo, and we found the hotel to be very clean and safe. The front desk staff spoke English fairly well. Pool was wonderful and has excellent views of the city. THe location is great-there are many good restaurants, banks, bars and shopping all within walking distance. We can't wait to come back again!

We stayed at the Melia Jardim Europa on our first trip to Sao Paulo. The staff were helpful and very friendly. The lady on reception helped us navigatge our timetable of meetings. Getting around the city can be complicated due to the traffic. The rooms are spacious, clean with good aircon. Breakfast was good. This is a good alround easy place to stay in a leafy part of the city.

The Hotel is good but the location is awful.
We lose a lot of time to arrive and leave the hotel, had a 09am and leaving it in advance did not come in time.
Unfortunately, as I come to work, must stay in a hotel with better location.
The other services are within the value.
In the region there are hotels with better location and values more attractive.

I always stay at this hotel, it's very well located if you wanna get in the middle of the business places in São Paulo. I do like the infra-structure of the hotel, courtesy, professionalism and so on.

However, there's a whole side of the hotel which gets very hot with the sun, and the air-conditioned sucks completelly. There's no way to work/ check e-mails if you're inside this side on a hot day. This is a serious flaw due to the hotel category. The manager says the hotel is in reform, but the last thing to be uptaded will be the air.

I also think the bathroom bench is too small and crowded. Women dont like it, they say this won't change in the reform.

Restaurant and mini bar are not cheap, but there are lots of places around where you can eat & buy stuff.

All and all, a good place to stay, just keep those drawbacks in mind.

I stayed once more at the Melia Jardim Europa. I still like this hotel, its location, the front desk staff that recognizes me after so many stays BUT: rates have increased too much while services and facilities have not improved. When I came the first time I paid $ 61 including breakfast, which indeed was an extremely good rate but now, 2 years later, I'm paying almost 3 times the amount and breakfast is in addition. Honestly such a change is not justified. Rooms are big but now need some cleaning, TV channel choice is restricted (I could see some european channels 2 years ago, now they all disappeared) as well as minibar and room service offer.
I used to be allowed an early check in (when they had rooms available) and now everytime I have to fight as they want to charge me even if the hotel is not full.
I tried to forward my disappointment to the management but they don't seem to care. It's probably time to find an alternative.

Despite the size of Sao Paulo, I utilised a bus costing 27 reals from the international airport, and was at my hotel in about an hour. It's appearance and size make it's easy to find, with a little help of a map of course (although when you land at either airport you will think otherwise!!).

Check in staff helpful, with good english understanding. I had an Exec room on floor 5, with a small balcony, TV, minibar, en suite with shower & toiletries. There is a very small rooftop pool & gym with a good view of the area. Walked the area during the day on my own and was ignored by all, even carrying a camera (which I later had stolen in Rio so no pics this time!!).

I chose this hotel due to its proximity to Congonhas airport (about 25mins), as well as the area reportedly being safe, which I agree with.
