“Nice location”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 24, 2012

Just one block from Oscar Friere, Hotel 90 is very conveniently located. We had a mini-suite room with a kitchenette - not sure if that's standard. Hotel was clean, but would love an update. Rooms did not have sound privacy. Wifi was good, but not free, and limited to just one computer at a time. Breakfast buffet OK. Best parts of the hotel were its location, price and helpful staff.

I stayed for 4 night in "VIP" room.
No free wifi.. R13.50 daily / per device! so if you want internet on both phone and laptop, u need to pay it for two.
No iron..you need to send it to nearby laundry for ironing services.
No kettle..but they have coffee maker.

I loved the location, close to metro station, various shops, restaurants and bars. Though located in an agitated area, no noise could bother your sleep. This hotel seems to be stucked in the 1990's, it's worned out. Staff is great. Free treats for customers like chocolate truffles and local newspaper. Tiny pool on rooftop, with amazing cityview.

Overall, the only disappointment was that this really isn't a 4 star hotel, but if it was listed as a 3 star, would have been completely satisfied.

Location was OK - nothing exciting directly around the hotel, but only a few blocks walk from the best Jardins shopping streets. The room was sparse, but clean - wood floors help a lot as most hotels at this level lose points with old carpets. Room was spacious - had a couch, sitting area, and fridge, and the bathroom was well appointed. Bed was adequate - definitely not plush, but have slept in much worse. The breakfast buffet was included in the room and was decent.

The staff at the front desk, being in their low twenties, lacks interest into what they are doing and not a glimpse of anyone slightly proactive.

As for the rooms, I agree with what has been said, very old scratched furniture, not giving the sensation of comfort one wants and desires for the price range. I had a "double bed" which consisted of two singles with a matress on top, but the bedsheets did not fit.

As for the swimming pool, it's a jacuzzi sized bucket of very cold water.

The only positive thing in this hotel is its location.

How can a room in this hotel cost close to 150€/night?
The location is nice, but the rooms are of really low quality, old tv, noisy fridge, very old bath, lousy bad.
Charging this amout of money for such a lousy room, is worse than spitting on the customers. A rip-off!!!

Nicely located in Jardins with lots of good nearby restaurant / cafe options.
Rooms are apartment style with bar and lacking a bit of atmosphere.
Staff was friendly but just Portuguese-speaking.
Breakfast was mediocre compared to other hotels in this price range.
