Prodigy Grand Hotel & Suites Berrini
Ranked #17 of 327 Hotels in Sao Paulo

I was on a business trip in Sao Paulo and my company choosed this hotel because it is close to my office. The standard of the hotel is simple and less than average. I paid around 350 Real plus internet 24 real per day. The breakfast is simple and with less quality. After office working time the area is quite with less people. Walking in the darkness is not suggested and maybe danger because you would be one of the only person on the street.

Stayed there for 5 days. Chosen for its location and price (offer on Booking.com)
Large room with simple decoration. Not too contemporary (has carpet). Not luxurious but decent. Not one of those places that give you depression when you get back.
Nice reception hall. Good buffet breakfast. Nice gym and small pool on the roof.
Service was friendly and efficient. Internet available by cable and wifi. Good options including a flat "full stay" option at reasonable price.
Location good for business (Sao Paulo is huge so "close" is a relative term) but not too good for walking around for shopping and restaurants. Facing a square with big trees, which is good in Sao Paulo!

This is a business meetings oriented hotel. Room even had a whiteboard with things written on it from last guest. They do not ask you if you want a smoking or non smoking room. They put me on a smoking room, with a terrible smell of tobacco all over. After complaining, they changed the room to the 11th floor. One of the there elevators available did not stop at 11th during the time I've been there, making the guest to wait for another elevator or to take the stairs. Rooms are horribly decorated with old fashioned pine furniture and the bed, although clean, is too soft (old spring mattress maybe). It is well located, near everything related to business in São Paulo, but not near enough to allow you to do a thing by foot. There are no shopping centers or good restaurants that could be reached by a short walk and the neighborhood is not safe to stroll after it gets dark. Front desk pricing is absurd (rooms starting at almost 500 dollars) and options from the room service and minibar are pricy as well. Breakfast is below average and the restaurant (wich we ate lunch at) is average at least. São Paulo is an expensive city, but you can stay at another place far superior than this hotel paying a lot less. Only sleep there if your business event take place at the hotel and your company is paying the bill.

The hotel is situated very well for business people - often they will conclude that companies they do business with have their offices between 15-60 minutes from the hotel. Tourist should look voor a hotel in Jardims, safe, vivid and surrounded by excellent restaurants.
The Berrini has a nice, modern ambiance and the rooms are very OK. Clean with a comfortable bed (not to hard), plumming working well, airco functioning as it should, fast internet access.
The food needs a lot of improvement. The breakfast seems OK but is not. Freshness and variety need to improve. Lunch and breakfast are both buffets. As often in these hotels of mediocre quality and without any fantasy - following and repeating the boring routine of so many other business hotels. Waiters slow and not really passionate for their job. Frontdesk and room service good but not outstanding while when there is no bellboy at the entrance, the security personnel takes pride in ignoring you.....
Conclusion: average to god business hotel which needs to improve few matters in order to be a good competitor for the surrounding hotels.

Service is very friendly. The rooms are spacious. Breakfast was good. The location might be better for businessmen than for families.

Room Tip: rooms on street side are quiet and large

I stayed at the hotel for a week on a business trip because the office I was visiting was nearby. Its in the Berrini area and near Brooklin about 5km south west of the Avenue Paulista.

The hotel is about 25 stories high and built around a central atrium, I would say that its about 20 years ago and slightly showing its age but its clean and bright. My room was large and actually a suite with separate bedroom and living areas. It was newly furnished in simple furniture (think Ikea) and comfortable. It had a good, well lit desk. The shower was fantastic.

There is a gym and pool on the roof that is open from 6am to 10pm (6pm on weekend). Both are small and basic but OK. The pool is complementary but there is a charge for the gym.

Breakfast was simple and adequate without being noteworthy, dinner in the hotel restaurant was good.

Overall its a decent hotel but don't expect international luxury. When I stayed most of the guests were on coach trips or attending a convention. There were a few international businessmen but it was mainly domestic commercial travellers staying there. The nearest international alternatives would be the Hilton or Grand Hyatt, but they are in Booklin rather than Berrini.

There are a few local bars and mainly lunchtime restaurants near the hotel but nothing that you would travel for. There are no particular tourist areas nearby so its a 20min taxi ride to Jardins or Itaim Bibi for more interesting shops or nightlife.

Room Tip: Rooms on the river side overlook the freeway and are noisy

We stayed here over F1 weekend and picked up a great deal on the internet. We were surprised by the large clean rooms given the rate we paid. We booked 2 rooms and both had a sitting area that included a large desk, bistro table and comfortable armchair. Bathroom was large and was separated from the bedroom by 2 doors. A walkthrough closet in between.

We didn't stay long in Sao Paulo but it seemed like we were in a business area. Not really walking distance to many attractions. But it was still convenient to get places. We had a car.

Wifi was fast but an expensive extra. Its annoying but why do only cheap hotels and hostels include free wifi?
