The hotel is located near the Ibirapuera Park. That means you're gonna need a cab to reach almost every tourist or business related site in Sao Paulo. The neighborhood of this hotel isn't nice, it actually gets pretty scary in the night. However, if you leave the hotel and walk to the left some blocks away, you'll find nicer streets, with some shops, restaurants and pastry stores.
The room is old, but very big. It has a living-room, with a desk and an armchair, and the room itself, with the wardrobe and the bed, separated by a sliding door. The tv set is the conventional old one, with a tube, and most of the cable channels were unavailable. The floor is paved with carpet, which I don't appreciate much, but it seemed clean. The bed is huge and comfy, so are the sheets. There´s no central air conditioning, instead you'll find a domestic-like device placed onto the wall (although it is the split one, it's still kind of noisy). The wi-fi is free and stable. The bathroom is ok, the amenity kit is very good and I liked the magnifying mirror. One complaint I have is that the housekeeper never minded to replace the handkerchief package when it ran out on our first day there (we stayed for more two days). I didn't try the breakfast buffet, so I can't comment about that. This Mercure Hotel has a lower rate, so you'll get what you pay for

I've been there for five days in September. I don't know, but the room we got seemed smaller than other ones. Although small, was comfortable enough.

The room was clean with not so old furniture. It's well placed (near both Ibirapuera's Gymnasium and Park, I strongly suggest a visit to the later) and at night is surprisingly silent.

The closest subway station is not far, but the way up until there is a tough walk. Fortunatelly there are lots of bus to lead you there.

Breakfast is ok, but you must arrive early!

Some downs are the lack of details attention: on one day the wifi did not work for hours. As I was there on a work travel, updating a website, it was very annoying. But nothing compared to the day when, due to mantenance, all the rooms had an electricity cut. I wasn't aware of this maintenance and my main notebook's battery was very low.

The fitness room isn't that great and the swimming pool looks more like a big bathtub. You will totally be my heroe if you succeed in swimming there!

Room Tip: Corner suites are smaller but quieter.

Some Mercure Hotels in São Paulo have old rooms (old carpets, old curtains, old tv, etc.). This one seems to be newer, despite being less expensive (paid a rate of R$ 159,00 a night, about USD 89,00). The hotel is placed close to Ibirapuera Park, in a very quiet street (which is a very rare characteristic in Sao Paulo). Very convenient to the Jardins and Ibirapuera region. Service is ok. Breakfast is fine and beds are fairly comfortable. Has a great shower in the bedroom.
