I had not very high expectations given that this hotel was one of the cheaper Mercure hotels in the central Sao Paulo. However, the stay was a very pleasant surprise! The room on the 15th floor was newly refurbished and in a good condition, and had as a bonus a mid-size balcony with nice views of the city. In addition, I discovered that the hotel had a nice rooftop pool area :-) Add to this, a very friendly staff and a great breakfast buffet - and you have everything you need. Finally, the location in the Jardins area with many restaurants nearby as well as the metro within walking distance is very convenient.

Room Tip: High floor is nice with the city views.

Probably the best bang-for-the buck hotel in Sao Paulo. The location is perfect - very central and in immediate proximity to great restaurants, shopping, 24 hour pharmacy and supermarket. It's in the Jardin area, so it's in a beautiful, terrific, safe area.

The room have been renovated since last year. They are a lot more spacious, clean and modern. The beds are also very good (which they weren't 1 year ago).

The only downside is that the elevators are a small and slow and check in for groups tend to be slower as the hotel almost has a boutique feel to it. (This also gives the hotel it's charm) The staff is really helpful and professional, although not too strong in Enlish. Still, I strongly recommend this hotel.

I was 7 days at this Mercure hotel.
Plus:
Position, big room, very good breakfast
Minus:
Room not very cleaned, poor quality of the bathroom, too much expensive in general
This is not an Hotel with the Mercure standard

It might not be apparent to a casual observer, but this Mercure is actually two hotels residing under the same roof. One hotel is located on the upper floors and has refurbished rooms which are modern and include nice touches like a Nespresso machine. The other hotel is on the lower floors and has old, dated rooms with drab furniture and bad lighting. Both versions do have a fantastic location in the heart of Jardins and a really spectacular rooftop pool. The gym next to the pool seems like kind of an afterthought, but if you just need a treadmill it gets the job done. The moral of this story is that you should definitely spring for a refurbished room, which probably cost only about $30/night more. The standard rooms are a bit depressing, like you're at a Ramada on the turnpike. Either way, the Mercure is a great option- make sure to check the hotel website (as opposed to a search engine like Kayak), because they often have weekend specials with room prices at only $90- which is really a steal. And probably the only thing in Sao Paulo that you will find to be surprisingly inexpensive!

Room Tip: Refurbished rooms on the upper floors.

I have been to a few Mercure Hotels around Sao Paulo and I find this one most convenient. Good location with easy access to public transportation. The rooms are fairly modern (recently updated). Its fitness facility has a lot of room for improvement but is sufficient for the non-health fanatic. Service is good too. Always a good idea to have at least 1 person who can speak English and/or Spanish at the front desk.
