“Good central hotel, nice roof pool”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 12, 2013

Friendly staff, large comfortable and clean room, very good bed, pretty well isolated from noise. Nice pool and terrace on the floor. Good breakfast in the ground floor restaurant. Great location : 5' walk from Paulista and Augusta.

Room Tip: Ask a room maybe on Rua Jau side rather than Av. Paulista

I enjoyed my stay here. It was very well located, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. My apartment was big and clean.

The restaurant serves good food throughout the day.

Only issue was some noise due to renovations, but this stopped after 5pm. I slept very well every night, and the rooms are very quiet at night. The staff even presented me with a nice pen, as it was my Birthday during my stay.

I have been in São Paulo for business several times, always changing hotels to find the most appropriate place and I have been positively surprised by the Mercure Alamedas. The location is just perfect: 2 blocks from Avenida Paulista, close to the incredible Livraria Cultura (big bookstore).
The hotel is small - 6 or 8 rooms / floor - but the (newly renovated) rooms have a descent size, nicely furnished and clean.
Nice and efficient staff.
The breakfast was very good with a lot of options.

Will definitely book there on my next trip.

Room Tip: - Ask for a renovated room. - Small supermarket on Al. Santos street and Starbucks in Al. Jau, both...

I stayed in one of the old rooms. The room is indeed very outdated, but it's huge and nice. It has a mini-kitchen, a big desk, a LCD TV, a balcony and big wardrobes. I appreciated very much that the bathroom has natural lighting and ventilation, you can shower overlooking the city through the window. The breakfast was disappointing, very expensive. Fruit, juice and bread options were limited. It lacked sweet options, like cakes and cookies (the cookies offered were packed, straight from the supermarket shelves, and not of the good ones). The hotel is under renovation and you will hear some noise during business hours and days. The wi-fi is free, fast and stable. The old rooms are carpeted, which I don't appreciate. One thing that bothered me a lot is that the staff came to knock on my door at 11h30 on my last day to warn me that I should leave by 12h00. Of course I was aware of it, since I had previously checked at the front desk the check out time and the possibility of a late check out, which was denied, so there was no need to expel me like that. The location is very nice, the hotel is on a residential and quiet street, very close to the Paulista Avenue and the Consolação subway station. There's also a supermarket and a Starbucks in the vicinity. Lots of more sofisticated dining options are available withing walking distance.

Such a pleasure to stay there. Best hotel breakfast we had in Brazil at the 4 hotels we stayed in. Close and convenient to the shops. Never had any issues with the hotel. The good thing was that there was also the odd person whom could converse in English at the front desk.

Well placed hotel. Unfortunately the hotel was under major refurbishment and the noise was very disruptive during the daytime from 8am till mid afternoon, No notification was given by the hotel to advise of renovations. If I had known would not have stayed there. Was in an old room which was very tatty and outdated, hopefully the renovations will address this.

Hotel needs a renovation, stained carpet, dirty walls, old bed/furniture yet a great value for the price. Good breakfast, good location and good wireless connection. The room size was better than average, only one front desk clerk was able to speak English well, the bed was old and tired, carpet stained, the room is called an "apartment" as it has a microwave and very limited supplies...a coffee would be nice, the rooms need fresh paint or to be honest a total updating would be in order. The WIFI was good, the balcony excellent and the shower had lots of pressure and hot water! The breakfast was good and the restaurant staff was more concerned with making sure that you signed your bill so the "independent" restaurant got paid rather than cleaning tables and meeting customer needs. I will say that the due to the high prices for hotels in this area it was a good price and if that's what you need then this hotel is a fair value.
