Description: Marcos Bassi, son of Italian, grew up in the neighborhood of Bras, downtown Sao Paulo. His history with the meat started early, at age eight, when selling beef kids in the neighborhood where he lived. After a few years, Mark and his mother Mafalda, acquired a space in the Municipal Market of Sao Paulo. Worked hard there, to acquire the butcher Mr Prachedes in Humaita Street, already in the neighborhood of Bixiga and transform the Meat House Bassi, where met the rich immigrant city, as a structure, quality and customer care services. Gradually managed to implement a barbecue in the Meat House so they could test for over there even their creations. It was when they started selling sandwiches and Store cuts already baked. The history of prime meat was born there, along with the story of Marcos Bassi, just to differentiate the quality and price of products Marcos Bassi. In 1978 born the "Meat Slaughtering Central Noble Bassi" on May 13th Street, now with a special place to serve some people with their tastings of special breeds and cuts. The desgutacoes did so successfully, that a year later came the steak house in the same place where today the work of Meat Temple facilities. Throughout life, Marcos Bassi learned in practice all about cuts and other technical details such as blood supply, softness and texture. As a craftsman, his hands left cuts enshrined as Candy, made from the rump kernels, and the steak butcher. Also pioneered the vacuum process and meat maturation in Brazil The Temple of meat is then perpetuates as a result of 50 years of a life, invested and dedicated to specialty Bassi: meat. And with the technique learned with Marcos Bassi, born Marcos Bassi culture, ensuring that tradition continues at the Temple of Meat. Come visit us.

Went here on a saturday for lunch.. waited 20 mins for our table and then simply had the best meat ever.
The Picanha was amazing, there is nothing much to say.
Definitely planning to go back soon ;-)

“Meat king”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

If a good meat is what you looking for, this is one of the best places to go in Sao Paulo. Be advised that it's not a rodizio (all you can eat scheme), but an à la carte restaurant. Bassi's prime rib is incredible, but I'd recommend almost the whole meat menu! As starter, don't miss the grilled giant palm tree heart. The staff is very attentive.

Reviewed December 11, 2012

This barbecue restaurant owned by Marcos Bassi, definetly is outstanding!!
You should try the Rib (costela de boi) !!! it´s huge and serve at least 4 or 5 starving people.
For a foreign people is completely diferent than other meat experience...
Wine menu on a honest price and great variety.

“An amazing restaurant by an amazing owner/chef!”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

I've eaten here several times, and I've never been disappointed. Marcos Bassi's restaurant departs from the Brazilian churrascaria standard - all-you-can-eat roasted meats on long swords. While those are certainly excellent (and some even more expensive than Bassi's pricy menu, with meats as good and some admittedly/probably better), Bassi offers incredible value at fair if expensive prices.

For starters, there is a central table with raw steaks (covered in plastic foil) with the names of each cut and price - you know exactly which meat you're getting.

The salads are solid, as is the palmito pupunha (first time I ever had it was here), all prepared at your table.

All the cuts are good. I have not had lamb, pork, or chicken - I'm a beef lover. The ribs here are excellent. Picanha, rib eye (various cuts: bife de chorizo/olho de bife/bife ancho), skirt steak (fraldinha), and other Brazilian cuts like bom bom never disappoint. The portions are big, the doneness is exactly as you ask for, and the tenderness and flavor make this my favorite steakhouse in this city.

I'm a huge fan of this man, who always welcomes customers warmly when he's on site.

Go here! You will spend good money, but it will be worth it. You can also buy barbecue tools and equipment as well as wines and raw meats for you to make at home or at a friend's backyard if you're visiting Brazil.
