"Carioca" is the name of inhabitants of Rio de Janeiro, state that has the most famous bars in the country. Simple bars with in Rio are called "botecos".
Sao Cristovao could be called a good "boteco" in Sao Paulo, very much in "carioca" style, meaning, simple, with fast and good service, perfect draft beer (chopp) and great snacks. try the mixed pastries (cheese, meat and palm heart) and the fried manioc, for example.
They have also complete meals, but the place calls for chatting with friends while drinking and going for finger food.
Decoration is based on football, with walls full of pictures, flags & cartoons, plus two TVs showing football games. Environment of total informality and quite noisy. People there are enthusiastic about the games. Great for that, not at all for a quite conversation. It is open all night long as a good "boteco" must be.
