Owner description: In 2004 the Pinacoteca de São Paulo entered this other building, at Largo General Osório, which originally housed warehouses and offices. The building was completely renovated by architect Haron Cohen and start receiving part of the Pinacoteca's extensive exhibition program. On the ground floor - that hosted the State Department of Political and Social Order of São Paulo, between the years 1940 and 1983 - is the Memorial da Resistência de São Paulo, a place dedicated to preserve the memories of those who resisted the political repression in Brazil.

“Very rich materials, great plays.”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

I have never been in the Pinacoteca when the play was average, and also its own material is very incredible. Wonderful place to one who like modern and contemporaneous art.

“History, art and beauty”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

More and more Brazil is recognizing the ugly dictatorship period of the 20th century.
This (beautiful) building used to be the political prison where the activists were "interviewed" and held.
Today one can see a good representative exhibition about the building's past and the years of dictatorship in Brazil and it's resistance.
Next to this, there are several floors with always changing contemporary art exhibitions.
Certainly worthwhile to spend an afternoon!

“Memorial da Resistencia is a MUST place to visit when in Sao Paulo”
Reviewed October 4, 2012

The Museum is located in the pavement of the former political prison called DOPS and is well managed and very instructive for all those who wants to know waht really went on during the fierce years of the miltary dictatorship in Brazil (1964/1985) . A must !

“If you go to SP and not go there....”
Reviewed August 31, 2012

It is such a symbol of how cool the city is because it is always showing great art and it is not hard to get there at all.

Sao Paulo is culture and it is great at it. The building itself is art and at night it is even cooler to visit.

Just a couple of hints: it does not matter who is showing but never got there and venture out the street like it is nothing. It is not in "melow" part of town....
