The only meal that matches the level of Boqueria in New York as my dining experience of the year. Excellent starters. We has Caldo do Mocoto, a soup made from cows feet, stewed with beans, Feijao de Corda, Beans, bacon in a smokey sauce. Pork sausage with red onions, Atolada de bode, Stewed goat with mandioca (cassava) and tomatoes in a rich sauce, excellent mandioca purée. The deserts and caipirinhas are to die for. The only question is why it took us so long to come here.

As I live in Sao Paulo, me and my wife always go to Mocoto restaurant. The easiest way to go there is to take the subway blue line to Tucuruvi station, and then get a taxi to the restaurant. Really worth it. The best dish IMHO is the "Carne-de-Sol Assada" (roasted dried meat), very popular and delicious. Dont forget to ask for a Tapioca Dice and a brazilian caipirinha. There is a cachaça with vanilla that is very good also is called "francesinha" (little french). The portions are huge and the prices are fair. Arrive early because of the lines.

Fabulous food. Fast but no frills service. Long waits but well worth the trip. Authentic north eastern Brazilian cuisine. Soups are hearty. Salads fresh, pork rinds to die for.

This is a city gem, far from downtown but worthy. They have great drinks like "Garapa doida" and very good food. The place is simple and very small, so many times there is a very long line of clients waiting for a table. Don't mind! Eat and drink on the counter or even on the sidewalk. Try some delicious dishes like "Dadinho de tapioca" or the tasty "Caldo de Mocotó".

They serve excellent caipirinhas, and the best brazilian food in town. It is a simple place, cheap and usually crowded. Be ready to wait to be seated while you sip your drink.
