Owner description: Located in a Victorian-era structure reminiscent of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Catavento Cultural is chock-full of interactive, hands-on exhibits and educational activities for children. Subjects covered include space, wildlife, geography, the human body and society. They are presented in action-filled, engaging fashion for the little ones. The surrounding neighborhood can be a bit sketchy, so taking a cab is recommended.

Although located at a non-attractive place (ugly, a bit dangerous), the building and the conception of this museum is worthwhile the "risk". Science to all ages, interactive. Impossible not to learn or have fun. Good parking lot.

An interactive museum located downtown Sao Paulo, near S Bento subway station. The museum is very well organized into sections related to different topics of most science fields, such as biology, chemistry, phisics (electricity & motion), astronomy, social sciences and so on. Excellent for school age kid as well as adults who want to take part in the experiments. Also full of live and video presentations, I am sure it will take you more than one full day to visit the entire building & attractions. There is also a snack bar, a little limited but will suffice for a quick meal. The area is quite decadent with the crowd popular shops around '25 de março' street and a great number of beggars and illegal dealers around Dom Pedro Park near by. I had no problem the day I visited the 'Catavento', police officers were around to secure visitors. Better visit before 6 PM.

My kids now are 6 and 8, but I've been going there with them since they were very young!! They always have a GREAT time and no matter how many times we go it's always difficult to get them out... It's a wonderful option for a rainy Sunday morning...

This museum is great for kids because you can learn about science while having fun. The entrance costs about 5 reais and you can stay all day long just during science experiments.
