“Budget Stay”
Reviewed June 23, 2009

We stayed at Bela Cintra Flat Service for 6 nights. The location is not bad, but we had troubles finding the hotel, as it is a very long street. Bars, restaurants, nightlife, shopping are within walking distance in a safe area.

The equipment of the apartment was very basic: 3 beds, but only 2 chairs! No sofa, no other place to sit except for the beds. The fridge was large, but very old, constantly switching on and off all night long. The windows don't close properly, and it was very cold at night down to +6 degrees celsius, about the coldest it ever gets in Sao Paulo. No heating, of course, and the wind was rattling at the windows.

On the positive side: there is a computer with free internet available in a little booth at the lobby. However, if you bring your own computer and want to use the internet, there is a charge.

We have nothing to complain about the Bela Cintra Flat Service. But on their internet site, it looks much better than it actually is. We paid 90 reais for the largest apartment they had available, per night. The next time I might consider paying a little bit more for a higher quality of accommodation.

We spent 3 nights in São Paulo, capital. This is the largest city in South America. The city is not to live, in my opinion, but certainly to visit. The subway and train system takes you to any place in the city. Well, we have chosen Bela Cintra as this was our best price on a noble region, which is Avenida Paulista (Paulista Avenue) surrounded area. It is a charming area of São Paulo, modern, full of restaurants, shoppings, cafeterias, bars, and much more. The buildings are modern and you can find the MASP nearby (MUSEU DE ARTES DE SÃO PAULO - Museum of Arts of SP). In this area you can walk very tranquil. The subway access is easy and very well advertised. From the Flat, you need to walk about 5 to 10 minutes to reach Avenida Paulista. From there you can go anywhere by subway. The flat is located in a quiet area, surrounded by residences. The staff is nice and friendly and are ready to help you with anything you need. They do offer free internet access. They do not include breakfast in the daily rate, but in the same street you can find nice bakeries, cafes and snack bars which offer a sort of good and tasteful foods for breakfast, lunch and lots of excellent snacks. We had our breakfast at different places, all of them very very nice. Otherwise, the room offers kitchen facilities (as it is a FLAT SERVICE), so you can cook by your own. Cable TV are included. If you are that kind of people that want a minimum and reasonable comfort, a nice location but not high prices, this is the right place. Have fun.
