Santos Dumont Park is great for everybody. A park with a lot of energy. It's huge and well divided. There's a great area for kids, they can have a lot of fun over there. In the same park, an area for couples, very quiet and beautiful. And other areas for groups where they can play instruments, have a picnic, chat...
Con: It's not open at night.
Hint: Go to SESC, right beside it.

We enjoyed a Saturday afternoon at this quintesential city park in clean, modern Sao Jose dos Campos which honors the Brazilian inventor of the airplane, Santos Dumont.

Kids gathered around the ice cream vendor's cart, a popcorn stand, man walking with cotton candy on a stick, fountains, japanese koi garden... all very sweet, like a picture out of a chidren's book.

Do not miss going into the SESC building next to the park entrance, it is a great community center. Public is free to walk in (ignore the people at desks near front entrance, they are just signing people up for memberships). Walk up stairs and go to the right to see art exhibits, music and a VERY CHEAP padaria type restaurant which is very clean and has dirt cheap prices. We had two small yogurts and three cafezinhos for about $5 US.

I will return here if ever I return to this cute city.

A small but pleasant park with exercise areas and jogging track as well as a .children's playground. Also has some exhibits relating to the local aerospace industry and the famous flyer, Santos Dumont, including a full scale metal re-creation of one of his planes. A place to spend a pleasant half hour.
