One of the better hotel outside of major Brazilian cities. Quiet, AC works (see more below). Breakfast OK but not outstanding. Shower is fine.

AC is split units in rooms, no air conditioning in the hallways. The room units are reasonably silent and work well.

The one issue about this hotel: it's kind of hard to get there. One might see it from the intersection, but then it takes a convoluted loop through the neighborhood until getting them. For those of us man enough to refuse to use a GPS, it's a bit of a challenge. :-)

Parking is not included in the room rate, incidentally.

Stayed here for 5 weeks in August/September.

All the staff I met were friendly, courteous and helpful. The hotel maintains very high standards of cleanliness; the staff seem to take genuine pride in their work.

The beds and pillows are comfortable and clean. All the rooms I stayed in had decent air conditioning and were all quiet.

The breakfast is excellent; different hot options each day and very varied.

There is a good sized gym (three treadmills) and a small pool with a couple of loungers. A criticism would be that the air conditioning didn't work in the gym so running in the day time was a sweaty experience!

Free wifi in the hotel too which worked reliably and was ok speedwise; good enough for video skype.

The location is good; opposite a big supermarket and the Colinas shopping centre that has a foodcourt and cinema.

A nice hotel.

Room Tip: All rooms I stayed (5 in total!) were identical.

The Mercure hotels are not always the same, this is a new building (and new rooms...), in great location (just across the Colinas Shopping).
Food is fine but you are walking distance from the best barbecue in town (that counts too).

Traveled with a group - allowed to check in early as we arrived early from an overnight flight. Everything in the room was clean and working. On the last day, however, the bath towels smelled really, really bad - not sure what happened there. The resturant was good, but more Europeon than American meat, cheeses, bread, fruit. Coffee was excellent. We are also allowed to check out late - which was very nice. Had 3 cars - no issues with valet - quick service. I would recommend for anyone traveling on business to SJC.

Note: This review and rating focusses only on the wheelchair access and facilities of the hotel. For other aspects read someone else's review!

The hotel has one wheelchair accessible room. Flat entrance to the hotel with automatic doors. There is level access throughout the lobby, bar and breakfast area of the Mercure.

Handicapped room is on the first floor (the lift/elevator is of small but adequate). The room is compact but well designed and there is space to maneuver. There is enough room between bed and wall and bed and built in furniture. The workdesk is at a comfortable height. The electric sockets and wired internet connection (there is also wifi) are located in the wall behind the desk and are very easy to reach. Closet has a bar at a comfortable height for hanging shirts etc. Light switches are by the bed and easy to reach from the bed. I like this feature, you can turn all the lights in the room, except the desk light, on or off from the bed.

The bed (queen size) is at a perfect height for transfers and is comfortable.

Air conditioning unit is operated by a remote control and works fine. TV remote control stored beside TV at comfortable height.

A sliding door leads to the bathroom which is large with plenty of turn space. Ample knee room under sink. Slanted mirrors make for easy viewing when seated. Toilet is easily accessible for a 90° transfer. Grab rails well positioned.

The shower is an open, roll-in, design with a fold up, sturdy, shower seat mounted with plenty of access room for transfer. Shower controls are easy to reach. There is a combined hand held hose and wall mounted rose, with a control on the hand held unit to select which one you want. The wall mounted unit is positioned directly above the seat. The seat is small, and I found I always needed one hand on the grab rail to help me balance. However the grabrails are sensibly positioned. There is no temperature cut-off so you need to be careful when adjusting the temperature to avoid scalding de-sensitized areas of your body.

The staff are very friendly and quick to help with carrying trays or moving furniture. The restaurant is accessible and provides breakfast, lunch and dinner. The nearby Colinas shopping centre has shopping, food and an excellent chascurria, all with good wheelchair access. It is possible to walk to the shopping centre although you have to cross a few busy roads to get there (pedestrian crossings are plentiful).

All in all, a very comfortable, accessible option in SJC.

Stayed here 6 nights on recent business trip. Room was decent size, clean with comfy beds. Had mini fridge filled with different beverages and snacks and internet connection was easy with decent speed. Only negative was lack of alarm clock in room but otherwise a real nice stay.

Hotel situated in nice area within walking distance to grocery store (Brazilian version of Meijer), shopping mall and a few different restaurants. Also, within short drive was another shopping mall (larger), a Walmart and a downtown area with plenty of shops and places to eat.

The Mercure is a good, moder and clean hotel. It is certainly not luxurious, and I suspect the adjacent Ibis hotel offers better value for money. The rooms were clean and spacious, and the same can be said about the bathroom. The hotel offered a good breakfast, and the restaurant was fine for a simple meal. The downside for me is that the location is such that you need a car or a taxi if you want to do anything. On the positive side I found the staff very helpful and friendly.
