The "pousada" is not bad. But make no mistake, it is a simple place with a nice swimming pool. The location is good if you're in business with USP. The apartments are scattered around a central area where the restaurant and the swimming pool are located. Lots of stairs, not suitable for people with limited mobility. The bedrooms are simple, the internet slow, and the environment can be very noisy in the early morning, as employees walk around from 5am carrying trolleys and talking loudly. The swimming pool has a water fall that makes a lot of noise as well. For some weird reason they turned it on at 6am one day. Everybody in the hotel thought it was raining real hard. Breakfast is OK, with a basic choice of fruits and bread, ham, cheese. Lots of sweet cakes and tarts. The building is not very well kept (see the photos).

The staff here ia amazing. They do whatever they can to please the guests and make us more confortable. Breakfast is good and the scrambled eggs are the best I have ever tried. Beds are good and the air conditioner works fine. Swimming pool is small but my husband and I had a very relaxing morning sun bathing. Good location, near USP and many restaurants in avenida do café! We will be back!

I stayed for a week recently whilst working at nearby USP campus, which is within walking distance. The hotel doesn't look much from the road but is really very good once you enter. It is very clean, staff are pleasant and helpful and some speak a little English. Google translate does the rest if you don't have any Portuguese. Rooms are set round a courtyard and are simple yet adequate and have WiFi, TV, air con and fridge. There is a large airy breakfast room with an excellent breakfast buffet. There's a little swimming pool area with tables and chairs. There's also a lounge under the reception area with large flat screen TV and indoor and outdoor sofas.

This was my second visit. I would stay there again.

Room Tip: Rooms at the far end of courtyard from the reception may be quieter as less people walking past talking or trundling suitcases. Beware dawn cockerel crowing.

Wonderful little hotel near the USP campus. From the road it looks like it might be just someones house but then once you are inside it is a large central area with rooms around the outside. Large breakfast area in the center with a pool. Comfortable rooms and very friendly and helpful staff
