Guaruja is hot and downscale by US standards. It's several hours drive from Sao Paolo. If you go there, the Casa Branca is the only hotel I recommend. The rooms are spacious and the service four star. The pool is delightful and just off the beach. It really feels like vintage elegance, but the hotel is like an oasis in a desert. I'm surprised it's even listed on TripAdvisor.

If you want to get away and yet feel the warmth of your home, this is the place. Only couple blocks away from the beach. The room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious. I highly recommend this hotel. We will soon stay there again.

I stayed at the Casa Branca with friends over a weekend and we all loved it. The hotel is only 2 blocks away from the beach. The rooms are big, relatively new and comfortable. Of course they have air conditioning which is a must in Brazil. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had rooms facing the street which was not a problem since nights were pretty quiet.
Breakfast was good but nothing to rave about.
I'd definitely go back!

Room tip: You can make your reservations via email. Hotel can arrange transportation to and from Sao Paulo.

We showed up to Hotel Casa Branca without a reservation. They gave us a R$199/night room for the price of R$169/night which was great. The gentleman at the front desk was very helpful and let us look at a couple of room before making a decision. The room was nice and clean. The do have a pool. It is a bit small but we didn't even use it because the hotel is a 5 minute walk to Enseada Beach. The hotel provides beach towels and they have a kiosk on the beach that provides you with a table and chairs. You can choose to order food or drinks from the kiosk (there are servers there to take your order from where you sit on the beach) or you can choose not to. Sitting at the kiosks chairs does not require you to order from them. The beach is large and clean and beautiful.

The only suggestion I would make to the hotel is to provide small shampoo/conditioners in the hotel room. I brought my own so it was no problem, but if not, I would have had to purchase it from the front desk at an overpriced amount. But the rooms were updated and the breakfast in the morning was very good. The decor is fun and colorful with and island-like theme.

Even though we checked out at 11am Friday morning, they allowed us to come back after we were done at the beach and use the lobby restrooms/showers. Every time we walked into the hotel we were greeted by a warm welcome and smile. We didn't even have to say what room we were in when we needed anything. They remembered us each time. I would absolutely stay here again!
