“most memorable”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 9, 2014

Travelled many places throughout the world and this is hands down the most luxurious, romantic place ever! Superb service -friendly, intelligent staff. (no check-in.) Breathtaking architecture and impeccably appointed rooms. Our villa had an open shower, fireplace and outdoor veranda. We were surprised with the amazing attention to details including personalized gifts, Trippel beer and chocolate boudin in wet bar. Breakfast was brought in. Dinner and wine selection was exquisite and highlighted local produce. Spa also outstanding.(Check out the glass pool with bubbles overlooking the mountains and sauna where large drops of 'tropical rain' showers every 3 min!) Were so sad to leave and can't wait to return for a longer stay. Thank you, Botanique, for a most memorable stay!!

This small Luxury hotel located in the middle of the Mantiqueira Mountains is something worth to stay. There are only a few rooms and Bungalow that makes your stay in Campos do Jordão area a great get away from the crowded São Paulo City.

Room Tip: Try a Mountain view.

We do not often post on Tripadvisor unless a a place warrants an exceptional rating, but Botanique was the most exceptional place that we have ever stayed in terms of quality of service.

Felix was our personal point person for our stay, looking after every need instantly, with a smile on his face and treating us like a guest in his own house. We met the owner, a charming mother of five children who has built the place from scratch, planting about 20,000 trees, working with top designers, while training and employing locals, as well as trying to grow as much local produce to support the community. I believe total employees is 50!

We went horse riding in the hills and although the horses were a little fresh for my rather nervous wife with little experience, the guide lead her horse making her feel at ease - I then later went for a gallop!

We had the had private tennis coaching another charming and relaxed employee, Eugenie. I have competed internationally in sport and most of my coaches have been very average compared to his positive and energetic style on the Rolland Garros style grit court that he personally rakes before hand.

The headline price may seem expensive, even by Brazilian standards but virtually everything is included - all meals, any complimentary drinks, tennis, horses, mountain bikes, use of the spa and mini bar. To add to this Felix gave my wife a bunch of red roses and some coffee to take home for her father.

I could go on, but don't want to spoil any surprises for you and worth the trip if only for 2 nights and 3 days.

The best place we stayed on our honeymoon and would definitely return.

Room Tip: Aim for a room facing over the valley - preferably a corner one with 270 deg views.

Our experiences perhaps best summarised in the mail send on the journey back to Sao Paulo…

So sad to be leaving Botanique after two very special days - a remarkable project in a spectacular corner of the country. I thought the design and decoration flawless and each of your staff utterly charming. Undoubtedly my new favourite property in Brazil.

We loved it all, but took particular note of the bird whistles and Portuguese poetry in our room; leather wallets for the room keys; Julio The Great – incredible massages; Fresh everything everywhere - flowers, fruit, olives, nuts; Paulo's wonderful piano playing; Felix - a serious asset (how can he possibly be 46?) - and his caipirinhas; honey/truffle oil and delicious Brazilian wine; blankets whisked out at the slightest hint of cold. I could go on..

Many thanks to you all.

As a Brazilian living abroad I must say that Botanique matches the highest level of global standards. We stayed there for two nights in February 2013 and were surprised by the attention and care dedicated to every detail. From the preparation of the rooms, to the spa and most importantly the food, using exclusively local Brazilian ingredients and caters to the traveler who is willing to experience something different from the usual.

For those who are staying in the Region the day spa and the restaurant are great choices.

Room Tip: We stayed in a Villa called Bainha, which was very comfortable.

To whom it may concern:

I have worked for 35 years with Cargill Inc. During this period I travelled a lot around the world and was a guest in many hotels.
In my opinion Botanic is unique due to the following reasons:
1. Located in a wonderful and sophisticated region with outstanding climate
2. The architectural design of the buildings and spa facilities compare to the best hotels in the world.
3. If the person wants to have an unforgettable meal, Botanic is the place, with his Chef.
4. If you happen to have a sophisticated taste and like beautiful sites, Botanic is the place to visit.

My Personal Opinion:
Paulo Prestes (77) and Rachel my wife (75) , 152 years of life experience, who had lived in many places abroad and in Brazil, can guarantee that Botanic is really an unique jewel in the mountains of Brazil.

This place is amazing. Nested in the middle of the mountains, the views are breathtaking. Service is impecavle and food is 3-star Michelain level. If you are looking for pampering and relaxing, this hotel is perfect

Room Tip: Pick between the view if the room in the main house or the more isolated villas. Both are amazing.
