Description: While going through the gateway it is possible to feel the gentle warmth of the fireplaces, glimpse the walls of centenarians dormant railroad, finely decorated with copper objects that reflect the lights of the candles on the tables, it is impossible not try this tasty and warm feeling that says: Yes, I'm in Campos do Jordao! His story begins in 1967, the Mini Shopping Iguatemi, as House of Cheese and Wine. Over time customers started asking evening wine and cheese and then came the idea of opening a restaurant. In 1969, it opened in Campos do Jordao, in a house that was across the current location. It was the first restaurant fondues and raclettes city. At the time, the cheese fondue was canned in Switzerland and had to be mixed with national cheese to please the tastes of Brazilians. With the acquisition of the house, where today stands the only cheese, construction of the new building was all prepared already thinking about environmental preservation, for it was used sleepers for the railway, and several other antiques that today are true relics and add one all special charm to their environments.

If you you are looking for a true fondue, this restaurant does not offer not offer it. They add cheaper cheeses which I did not enjoy. However the waiter we had was excellent and made the evening pleasant despite the gastronomic disaster.

Thank Tom-SP

I went to the restaurant with a friend for dinner. We had 2 different fondues, both of them half portions. These were to be charged at 60% of the price of a full portion. Fair enough. We had a cheese fondue and a prawn fondue. The prawn fondue totalled 5 and a quarter already cooked prawns in number, which worked at at about £10 for each already-cooked prawn. The bill for this so-called prawn fondue was Reais 150 ( Roughly £10 for each prawn,) We found this to be extortionate!

We came here for a bday celebration after a recommendation from the hotel and reading the tripadvisor reviews. Food quality/quantity and service were really good, as previously written about.

The particular touch that is worth mention, is that after knowing about the bday celebration, we got a courtesy desert with a candle that arrived to our table at the sound of a live chanted bday song. Really nice touch, going the extra mile on customer service.

Picked this place from tripadvisor - nice place, impeccable service albeit a bit slow at moments but the fondue is decent and the atmosphere is charming...good place to get some cheese overdose. They have a very extensive and decent wine list.
