I stayed at the Mercure Florianopolis Convention for two nights as a solo traveller.
I booked a special rate of 105 reais per night which was outstanding value and based on the valuation equation this hotel deserves 5 stars.
The rooms were clean and practical, and well equipped with fridge, sink, microwave, desk, chair, and toiletries. Wifi worked well. The decor was dated and looked like it belongs from the 1990s, but I have found this is typical of Mercure in Brazil. The gym was typical Mercure standard.
The location of the hotel is neither good nor bad. It is half way between the downtown area and the beaches, although it is very easy to access either by public bus.
The hotel had a appealing sulphur smell in the elevators and also in the hallways. However my room did not smell. Also, as a Accor loyalty member I was offered a room upgrade which I declined because it was a smoking room. It is disappointing that in 2015 that a modern hotel still has smoking rooms, even though the majority of people find smoking absolutely revolting and the health problems associated with smoking are well known. My feedback to the manager is that this hotel would be better by becoming 100% non-smoking.
