“Great place to know Florianópolis”
Reviewed February 22, 2012

The south of the Island of Florianópolis is the most traditional place, with historical sites, wild beaches and local costumes yet alive!
Arantes is a great bar to try local food and beverage, don't miss the Cachaça.
My friends and spouse went there after a treeking that goes from Armação Beach to Lagoinha do Leste, a nice trail which asks for a nice cold beer at Arantes after you finish it!

“You must visit and enjoy this place”
Reviewed February 20, 2012

The Bar do Arante is a place to understand the real value of preservation fishing communities and local culture. It's a great place to try all seafood and local sides. You can eat a la carte (dish) or self service as much as you can.
The funniest point is the notes bellow the roof, when you can see lot of notes posted as a regards or furniture. It's really cool.

“Everyone goes here!”
Reviewed January 17, 2012

Tatty bits of paper, with messages from previous customers, hang from the walls, but this bar is an essential visit for all holidaymakers to Florianopolis. Try their home-made cachaça (it´s free) - but don´t drink too much of it.

“Fun place! Get real, haters!”

Bar do Arante is a little treasure. I wouldn't say the food is 5-star, but it's good, and the portions are HUGE. The notes are fun! That's part of it's charm! Go to Bar do Arante and leave a little mark in Florianopolis :)

Also, we were asked by almost everyone we encountered if we had gone to this restaurant. It was everyone's first suggestion.

Oh yeah! And the waitstaff was so nice, they gave us a free shot of cachaca on our way out.

“Not sure Whatpeople see in this place.”
Reviewed November 25, 2011

Been here several times and promissed not to return anymore. Food is average at times mediocre. Several typical restaurants in Town cook much better food. People love the post-its on the wall but it is actually anti-higienic if you evaluate it carefully, a public health hazard and the place would be shut down if it was elsewhere with efificient health inspections. I know some folks may get mad at me for this review but I can't help it. The place is not good and it is unfair to the other great restaurants in the Island to be ranked after this one.
