“If you need to stay downtown this is a good option”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 13, 2012

This is a traditional hotel in the city. It offers nice views to the Guaiba River. The rooms are nice, but a in old style. The staff are great and they have very nice breakfast. The location, downtown, is not that great and can be unsafe. You want to stay in a high floor room to enjoy the views. One problem I found was the noise from an electrical equipment they have running and I can hear from my room at 14th floor.

Room Tip: ask for high floor to enjoy the Guaiba rivers's view

While the hotel itself is located in a bad area (be sure to travel by taxi anytime when the sun has gone down), it has a nice toucy of the "good old times"....in case you donot care about this, you might as well look for a different place and/or area....Personally i prefer the Molinhos de Vientos area alot more.

People at the hotel are friendly and business-like, i guess most people visiting this hotel are travellling on buiseniss........would i recommend this hotel to family and/or friends? Yes i sure would, if onlly for one or two nights and certainly when booking a suite here: very spacious on one of the top floors and overlooking most parts of Porto Alegre...swimming pool on top floor is another mayor plusl....would i com back some day at this place? Yes.

Room Tip: Book a susite for some extra reals, it is worth it!

The hotel is located downtown, old and scary part of the city. Rooms are outdated, furniture from the 1960's. Color Tv from last century. The worst part...a/c is noisy...the toilet flush sounds like an airplane flush. So noisy that you wake up every time your neighbours go to toilet. Room service is overpriced. Best part, an excellent breakfast. Should be considered a 3plus star hotel in any other part of the world.

Staff were very friendly. We enjoyed the large rooms, even if they are quite old. Covered pool for swimming lengths on top floor. Really good breakfasts - for people who like fresh, healthy ones.

Room Tip: We were happy with our double room on the 15th floor

The hotel is in the old downtown section of the city, surrounded by abandoned buildings, a church, and basic commercial stores.
The hotel entrance is below average for an advertised 5 star hotel, facilities are clean, and a pool and spa is available at the site.
Rooms are extremely outdated, with cheap furniture and somewhat comfortable beds.
The price for a standard room ranges from USD 110-150.
I would not stay at this hotel again, even though it will much most 3 star hotels requirements.

Excellent location (downtown). Friendly staff. The room was very clean, but with old fashioned furniture. My room was in a high floor, so during the night I didn't hear any noises from the street. The price is expensive for a night in a hotel with less than four stars, but I think that's the reality in Porto Alegre.
