This place is horrible!!! Once you walk in it hits you, the bell hop is trying to sell you women on your way up to your room. The bed is NASTY, carpet looks like it has not been changed since the 70's, the elevator is small and there is no cable TV (we actually had mouse ears!!!). We roughed it through one night and at breakfast it all went to hell when we opened the butter and their were ants in the "sealed" packets. We booked for four nights in the middle of the world cup and left after one!!!!!

Room tip: The only tip is to STAY AWAY!!!!

Hotel POA Residence is located within walking distance to the city centre and main inner city attractions. It is about a R$12 taxi ride from the bus station and could also be walked in about 30 minutes.

Positives: the staff are great and most speak some English. We arrived early at about 10am and were fortunate enough to be able to check in straight away. Check in was straight forward and friendly. The room was large and had a view of nearby buildings. There was also a small kitchen area with microwave and basic cutlery facilities in the room. The room had a large LCD tv and air conditioner / heater and was located on the 9th floor (room 903) away form traffic noise. The bathroom was huge and had a really great shower. Buffet breakfast was included and there was free wifi. The room was clean

Negatives: the room and interior of the hotel in general is very, very dated. It's like something out of the early 70's and is itching for a refurbishment (especially the room carpet). First impressions weren't great but everything worked and over a couple of days it grew on us and was quite comfortable.

Overall, for the price it was a value for money stay in Porto Alegre and well worth the coin. Value for money score 7/10

Room tip: As for a room high up and a the back the building away form traffic noise if you want a quiet stay. The rooms at the front have great views but overlook a busy road

This hotel is located in the border of downtown and Cidade Baixa; you can visit many interesting places by walking from there. The hotel staff is so sympathetic and helpful. Breakfast was simple but diversified. Free WiFi with good quality. Huge room with a kitchen and big bathroom. Excellent option specially for short stays. A little bit old and in need of some renovation but definitely recommended!

The hotel is simple but the great atmosphere and the rooms were undoubtly outstanding... The staff is really helpful with everything, restaurants, bars and night clubs. The room are huge and clean with an amazing hot water strong shower. There is also a small kitchen where you can prepare fast meals... Me and three friends stayed in only one room with three single beds and a couple bed, really big... The breakfast is good but nothing special... It´s centraly located what makes easier to get everywhere... The problem is that there is no leisure area, gardens, which can be missed on longer or family trips...

Room tip: The backward rooms have no view of the city, but they are bigger than the front ones...
