My Brasilian brother-in-law found this "pousada" on the internet, while searching for an affordable place to stay for one night on our long drive from Fortaleza back to Recife. Three of us shared one Chalet - my wife and I in a queen bed in the loft, and meu cunhado slept down below in 1 of 2 twin beds. Privacy would have been an issue if this were an extended stay, but for one night it was just perfect. The individual chalets are configured differently for different sized families/parties. After discovering this little paradise we would have loved to stay another night, but we had a birthday party to get to in Recife, so we'll just have to plan another visit next time we're in Brasil.
It's difficult to describe how beautiful the setting is at "Mirante de Pipa", and even their own website doesn't accurately convey its charm and appeal. First of all, you feel as if you are staying in an intimate little jungle village atop a densely forrested hill overlooking the turquoise tropical sea. Your own private chalet in this shady village is both romantically rustic and modernly equipped with AC, ceiling fans, mini-fridge, balcony with table, chairs, & hammock, outdoor shower and locking safe inside. Mirante de Pipa has an outdoor "gameroom" with pool table & ping pong (not even mentioned on their website), as well as the most gorgeous breakfast veranda you'll find in the northeast of Brasil. Your servers here in the morning excel in making you feel at home
From your private bungalow, it's a mere 5-minute walk into the adorable town of Pipa, chock-full of restaurants, hand-crafted souvenir shops, & pousadas. Also a 10-15 minute walk from the hilltop brings you to some magnificent beaches. Ask at the front desk, or at breakfast, where to get the trail to "Praia do Amor" - You won't be disappointed.
Around the grounds at "Mirante" you'll see all sorts of native plants with hand-painted wooden tags identifying them by name. You may also spot many different birds and if you're lucky catch a glimpse of a monkey or two. They abound here like grey squirrels do in the northeastern U.S.
If you're reading this review, and you plan to be anywhere near Pipa in the coming months, do yourself a favor and book a chalet at Mirante de Pipa immediately for at least 2 or 3 nights. You'll be so glad you did. Your hosts there will also be so grateful you came and make you feel so welcome.
