Reviewed April 14, 2010

I´ve been to Pipa Hostel for 6 nights in the beginning of January, 2009. I stayed in a private room and in a dorm as well.
Janete, the owner and manager, is an amazing person. When I´d been there the hostel was only 6-month old, so it was brand new.

LOCATION
Pipa village is a small town. The hostel is located in one of the small streets and is just a few minutes from the main street, where main bars and restaurants are.
The street is very calm and seemed safe, I had no problem walking alone. Pipa is much safer than Natal, so this helps...
The hostel is also within waliking distance to the beaches.

ROOMS
The first two nights I spent in the dormitory, upstairs. It had 3 bunk beds (i.e. 6 people per room) and each one had large drawers so that you could keep your stuff / luggage (but you need to bring your own padlock). The room had its own bathroom and a ceiling fan. There were towels (for rent) and bed linen (free of charge). The beds were very comfortable and everything was very clean. The room was large and well ventilated. There was a balcony with hammock.

The rest of the period I had a private room, also upstairs. My room was huge, with a double bed and an additional single bed, but I missed a table or anything to put things (the room had just got ready to use when I came, so perhaps this problem had been solved). There was also a balcony with a hammock. The bathroom was nice and clean. Shower had a good water pressure, but by the time I was there, they had a problem with the water heating system (solar), so there was not hot water.

In general, both rooms were quiet, but the private room faced the swimming pool/ kitchen area, so there was a little noise in the morning. We could also hear people when they talked at the balcony beside.

Another problem in the room was that during the day (in the season I went), it was pretty hot, even with the ceiling fan turned on, so it was a problem to wake up late after party...

SERVICE AND HOSTEL AMENITIES
The hostel have a nice common area, with swimming pool, grill for barbecue and board games. There is a large LCD TV and DVD player with lots of movies at the living room.
The kitchen is outside, just beside the swimming pool, and has refrigerator, stove with oven, microwave oven, coffee maker, as well as flatware, pots etc.

There was a computer with access to the internet (use upon reservation, free of charge) and free wifi.

Breakfast was included in the fee and it was nice (milk, coffee, cocoa, fresh bread, cakes, fruits, juice, ham, cheese etc.).

Janete is very very helpful and kind with the guests. She advised me about attractions (such as best time to go to dolphin watch). All the ladies from the kitchen were very polite and helpful.

FINAL CONSIDERATIONS
I´ve been to other hostels in other places, and Pipa Hostel is among the best ones. Besides the problem with the hot water and the fact that the private room was too hot during the day, I enjoyed very much my stay. Definitely would come back!
