Aquaria Natal Hotel
Ranked #8 of 93 Hotels in Natal
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed July 10, 2013

Aquaria is the most undervalued hotel in Natal and is very highly recommended.

I spend 2 weeks in Natal every summer so I’m quite familiar with the area. While Serhs is an alleged “5 Star” hotel & Aquaria is rated “4 Star”, there’s no comparison in terms of value for what you get.

For about the same cost you can either have a “basic” room @ Serhs (very small room) or a “Grand Master Suite” @ Aquaria which features your own private deck, Jacuzzi and beautiful oceanfront views.

The management team & hotel staff at Aquaria is incredibly friendly and the service is much more personalized because it is a smaller, quieter hotel than Serhs.

Aquaria is also located right in the heart of the Ponta Negra Beach whereas Serhs is in a very isolated area roughly 2500 feet away from all of the “local action”. The isolation makes Serhs an excellent choice for those who prefer a very quiet, uncrowded area to “get away from it all”. Aquaria, on the other hand, brings travelers right to the heart of the local culture and creates an opportunity for the “full experience” of what beachside Natal has to offer.

Room Tip: Grand Master Suite w/ private deck & jacuzzi

Stayed for 1 night only after a 10 days conference and before travelling home which is 10km away. The hotel looks brand new and the rooms are very confortable and quiet. A wonderful beach just across the street with warm water. If you prefer to stay at the pool, this is also a good option.

Room Tip: Higher floors the best view and less noise

As a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children), we stayed in a 2-dorm room with plenty of space at a very reasonable rate for high season. Very well located at the busy area of Ponta negra, Aquaria has a decent restaurant and a rather small pool, but it's across the street from the beach. One interesting fact: though apartments are fully furnished, with small kitchen, don't count on preparing your own meals: there are no plates, silverware or pans, oddly enough.

Room Tip: avoid low floors near the swimming pool and ask for an upgrade to get your own jacuzzi.

Stayed for 5 days in nov 2012. Hotel is decent. Friendly personnel although hardly any English (not at the reception either). Google translate works though. Wifi is free but slow. Caipirinha's is something they know how to do!

Restaurant decent, not top class. Rooms are populated with tiles and sober. Guess it's the same in all of brazil? So don't plan spending too much time in your room.

Hotel is not finished: no gym, etc. construction was ongoing. Perhaps it's better in the future with more facilities?

Stretch of beach is nice. Good stores and places to eat on the beach within a few hundred meters (the Italian is ok for 'all you can eat for R$12'). Live music and all.

Aquaria is a new hotel situated in front of the Ponta Negra beach - beautiful place - and near the Morro do Careca (Baldman Hill). The view is simply wonderful, the hotel is new, well-equipped with standard furniture of good taste but not the very high end. It is meant for tourism, to give the visitor a good location, clean and good rooms, proper air-conditioning (believe me that you shall praise it in Natal - quite sunny, quite warm). Rooms 226 where I am staying is a two pieces suite with a small area that would remind of a kitchen except that there is not even a microwave. It is nice with a veranda and I am less than 100 meter from the beach. During the evening the sound of the waves is a wonderful company for a drink and a cigar. During the day the fellows that rent beach equipments put a loud radio as a background that is a form of punishement. Service is marked by kindness and goodwill rather than by efficiency. Breakfast buffet has dozens of options but quantity does not necessarily means quality - fresh fruits are wonderful, same for the juices, food is not very appealing and industrialized items are more of the secondary brands rather than the leading ones.

Room Tip: Naturally the suites at the extremities of the building have more space and are 100 m from the sear...

The hotel is alright but ask for apartments higher than The third floor. Avoid apartments 112 and close! They are at the same level than the pool and awfully noisy due to stupid loud music and the noisy game room. Really, avoid these apartments at any cost! Service is OK, The place is clean, but breakfast could be better, with more options. alo, the curtains of The front room will no completely block the sun and you will wake up really early...for certain!

went there with my girlfriend (or tried to).
the hotel did not honor it's reservation. the first sign of a less than ok operation was that our credit card was billed 3 days in advance. upon arrival at the hotel they tried to hook us up with a worse room. after a long discussion (where, for instances, the desk clerk blaming booking.com and saying that the hotel was not at fault) the cleark ordered a staff member to take us (in this guy's private car) up to sehrs hotel (a reservation we made over the phone) and (unwillingly) gave us our money back.
terrible at best!
the hotel is located by the end of the Ponta Negra beach. this region is by far worse than the resorts area (Via Costeira region, by the Dunas park), small streets, lots of cheap street sellers.
the hotel's corridors are dark and the room we were taken to (a luxury suite they say) was small with little appliances.
the entrance is not by the hotel's given address, but by a small street on the side!

Room Tip: stay away!!!
