Fantastic choice of B&B for Rio. Exceptionally helpful & friendly staff who never once failed to provide us with advice on where to go and how to get there. Rooms were spotless, and there was a good selection for Breakfast including fresh cooked eggs and fruit. Set in the picturesque area of Santa Teresa, there are plenty of restaurants near by and some breathtaking view points. Definitely a recommended place to stay when in Rio.

First time in Rio and we decided to forego the big beach hotels in favour of Casa Cool Beans in Santa Theresa. This proved the right choice. The B&B is a perfect home for a few days. Waking up in the morning to the sound of cockerels crowing gives you an idea of the type of quiet local neighbourhood that I suspect many miss when they come to Rio. The room was great with interesting art and very comfortable. Breakfast on the patio surrounded by exotic plants was also excellent and Lance was the perfect host - both welcoming and informative, from helping us print off our boarding passes for the next leg of our journey to booking tickets for Rio Scenarium. One or two have suggested here that the "briefings" can be a little over-bearing but that was not the case. Lance will provide you with as little or as much information as you desire. Santa Theresa itself is a lovely area with lots of bars and restaurants within safe walking distance day and night. In the day time you can walk down the Main Street to Centro (but best avoid the corner cutting stairways) where there are 2 metro stations to choose from, both of which will quickly whisk you off to Copacabana. Bear in mind that that the metro at Ipanema is currently closed and the walk from the previous station is longer than you think. Indeed, getting anywhere in Rio always took longer than planned. As mentioned here by others some taxis in the evening are reluctant to go to Santa Theresa particularly from Lapa where the samba clubs are. We tried to get a cab at about half past midnight and 3 refused before the 4th agreed. This seems to be for 2 reasons. First, it's not very far so only a small fare is received for the uphill journey and, second, the drivers claim to be concerned about the effect of driving on the cobblestones on their suspension. However, be patient and you will get one within a few minutes. A final point. You can hire a driver/guide through CCB for half or a full day. We were fortunate to get Marco who drove us all over Rio, from the furthest beaches, through Tijuca NP and back to Centro to view wonderful old churches and a stop at an incredible coffee house called Confeitaria Colombo which you really should visit if you get the chance (its listed in LP). Marco was charming, informative and provided that important personal touch and we saw so much more of Rio in that one day than we would have managed in 3 days on our own. CCB lived up to all our expectations.

I had high expectations of staying at Casa Cool Beans after looking at their web site and the endless amount of positive reviews about it ( I must say having stayed their myself, the very few negative reviews are utter nonsense!) CCB went beyond my expectations and offered so much more, first class customer service, delicious breakfasts, stylish immaculately cleaned rooms and a roof top pool overlooking the stunning Santa Teresa. I would 100% recommend CCB...it honestly won't disappoint. My mum and I stayed for 4 nights and hope to return again one day. Thank you to all at CCB

Casa Cool Beans was a lot more than I expected ....Sergio and Lance went out of their way for my boyfriend so that when I arrived there was a beautiful bouquet of red roses and a nice bottle of Argentinian wine awaiting me. They were available if you needed help with your plans but were not pushy. Santa Teresa was absolutely beautiful with its cobble stone streets and local bars and restaurants and the graffiti was awesome. We always felt safe walking everywhere we went as we explored Rio on our own....and we did a lot of walking!!!! I would recommend this B & B to anyone looking for something away from all the hustle and bustle....we stayed on the ground floor which was very quiet and private...Thanks Lance and Sergio for opening your doors, hope to return one day in the very near future!!!!

English speaking staff, bright colours, beautiful gardens, a great location in bohemian Santa Teresa. Sergio, the manager, was so sweet - he went from table to table during breakfast to ask what everyone's plans for the day were, so he could offer to help if he could. That's the kind of place this is. It really has a 'get up and go' feeling about it. Staff very much encourage you to book a tour, or get out the map and explore Rio on your own.

Casa Cool Beans has the energy and social vibe of a hostel, but with more of a premium feel - rooms are private, clean and have everything you need - wifi, good showers, comfy beds, daily housekeeping.

If you're not a beach person, Santa Teresa is a great place to stay - great views, fun bars and restaurants and a cool arty vibe.

We've just stayed at CCB, choosing to have a couple of nights here near the end of our honeymoon. I've never stayed anywhere that felt so personal - Lance in particular will do everything in his power to make you feel welcome and cared for! The pousada is immaculate, and a whole range of thoughtful touches are the icing on the cake. And the breakfast is to die for! Highly recommended. Enjoy...

We stayed here as part of our honeymoon and booked it following the trip advisor recommendations. We were not disappointed, it was such a great find. The hotel is tucked away in Santa Teresa which is a beautiful part of Rio... think cobbled streets and local haunts which is exactly what we wanted. The rooms were stunning and its clear a lot of time and thought has been put into the decoration and general feel of the place - the attention to detail was fantastic. Lance and Sergio were so helpful and helped booked trips, taxis and anything else you want really. It's one of the nicest hotels we've ever stayed in, both in terms of the standard of accommodation but also the personal and helpful service that was offered. I would definitely go back tomorrow if I could. Thank you for an amazing stay
